Comeback wins?

Does anyone have any stats on comebacks? I'd be curious to see it. Like 2 goal comebacks, 3 goal comebacks etc. I mean how many such comebacks a team would have.

Habs have come back from a 2 goal deficit once (October 18 vs Boston) to win 4-3 and from a 3 goal deficit once (December 20 vs Ottawa) to win 4-3 in SO.

Nashville has 13 wins after trailing by one goal, Detroit and LA both have 12.

Dallas has 9 wins when trailing in the first period, Vancouver has 8, Nashville-Philly-Carolina all with 6.

Buffalo-Nashville-Dallas all have 6 wins when trailing after the second period, Habs-Yotes-Oilers have 5.

Funny Nashville's winning percentage when trailing first is .684 while it's percentage when scoring first is only .583

In 2 of the last 4 games, Dallas has come back from a 3-goal deficit to win.

Look up the Miracle on Manchester. That was a very traumatic time for me as a 7-year-old convinced of the infallability of Wayne Gretzky...

I got a 4 goal deficit one

2 years ago the Leafs came back and won in OT to beat Ottawa 5-4, that was one of my fave hockey games.

And then the 2nd last same of the 03-04 season was against Buffalo, down 5-2 going into the 3rd and we won in OT 6-5!

Theres two. Oh yeah and a long time ago, the Leafs were winning 5-0 against the Blues and they won 6-5, that won't happen right now though

what exactly qualifies as a comeback?
only games where the comeback are all unanswered goals, or games where you tie ANY deficit (no matter how many) and end up winning?

Ok the reason I'm asking is not because I just want to know. It's because the Rangers came back for the 5th time (at least, can't remember other games) from 2 goals down to win yesterday (second game in a row). I was just curious if it was a lot or not, by league standards. No 3 goal comebacks though.

The goals do not have to be consecutively. If Team A is down 5-0 but wins 7-6 it doesn't matter who scored when to get to that final score.

One 4-goal comeback from early this season was when the Flyers led the Pens 5-1 midway through the game. Pittsburgh tied it at 5-5 but the Flyers won in OT.

COMEBACKS, LED BY CAROLINA

The Carolina Hurricanes won four consecutive games in which they trailed by two goals, on October 24 (trailed Ottawa, 2-0; won, 3-2), October 26 (trailed Boston, 3-1; won, 4-3, in overtime), October 28 (trailed Philadelphia, 2-0 and 5-3; won 8-6) and October 29 (trailed Pittsburgh, 3-1; won 5-3). The Hurricanes became the first team in NHL history to win four consecutive games while overcoming a deficit of two-or-more goals in each game.

The Hurricanes lead the NHL with seven such comeback victories and are 7-10-2 overall in such games. In the 2003-04 season, the Hurricanes were 2-31-2 in those games.

Nov 11th, 2006, TB takes 2-0 lead over ATL and after that Kovalchuk just went insane, scoring 4 goals. 5-2 final.

'TWO-GOAL LEADS NO LONGER SAFE

Twenty-six of the 30 NHL clubs have lost games in which they led by two goals or more. The only clubs to have won each game in which they led by two-or-more goals are the Buffalo Sabres (17-0-0), Carolina Hurricanes (21-0-0), New York Rangers (19-0-0) and San Jose Sharks (15-0-0).'

I find that pretty impressive considering we're talking about the New York Rangers here.

We've lost 2 goal leads at least 3 times but still regrouped to win. The 3 games that come to mind right now are the 15 round game against the Capitals (led 2-0, the lead became 2-2 and we won in the SO), the Thrashers (we led 3-1, they made it 3-3 and we won 6-3), and the Lightning (we led it 2-0 heading into the 3rd, they tied it at 2-2 in the third but we won it 4-2). Anyway, impressive, but I think we'll blow a few of those before the end of the season. BTW, I find it interesting that in only 6 of the wins the Rangers had they never had a 2 goal lead.

I still remember that game against the Blues! I never saw it but I still remember it. After I read the quote of your post, I was going to ask about this game, till I realized that in your full post you mentioned that game. BTW didn't the Blues come back in like 15 minutes? That's crazy.
