Fines in This league are a joke. $2500?
I'm sure some cities fine people more than that for not picking their dogs' poop off the street.
What's even more funny is that the players make millions of dollars and only get fined $2500 for putting another person in serious danger. But, when a coach wants to speak his mind about blatantly bad officiating during a game on national television he gets fined $30,000.
Nothing will happen here. The NHL is asking for trouble just like what happened with Steve Moore in 2004. The Rangers will have to take of this themselves. The league won't protect the players so its up to the team.
But I absolutely agree with what "he" says, the Rangers need to do something...though I imagine accountability and discipline will be what Torts preaches to the team the next time the Rangers and Lightning meet (3/2 in Tampa)
Really, if they don't suspend Moore because he supposedly hit Feds stick... Yeah, I'm sure that's what he was aiming for...
I think Shanahan has done a better job than his predecessor but there's still a long way to go in terms of establishing respect for the opponent. Even if a hit was intentional, the offender is obviously going to deny it was. I hope Shanny doesn't buy into Moore's BS explanation.
Also, there's a fine line between intent and recklessness, and it's not so easy to determine intent (especially with Shanny believing some of those poor excuses for malicious hits). The league is going to have to start punishing reckless hits more harshly, because whatever punishments they are doling out right now are not acting as deterrents at all.
Moore better be suspended that was a cheap shot, ridiculous. The NHL always tries to make rule changes and suspensions to stop stuff like this but eventually the players need to take matters into their own hands and have some respect for the game. They are all the elite players playing at the highest level in the NHL have some respect for your peers and fellow players and stop with the garbage slew footing, cheap shots, elbows to the head.
Boy are you ever on the money. The league is run like a ****** joke, players who pull this garbage should not only be held accountable by the league but they should also be dealt with by the players themselves, good old fahioned payback like back in the day!
Nothing is going to happen. Pretty pathetic move by Moore (and the NHL), especially considering all the stuff he preaches about headshots and how it affected his brother. bunch of ******** I suppose. I liked Moore on the Rangers but since he left I have liked him less and less, that dirty hit was just the icing on the cake. People always forget that Bertuzzi attacked S. Moore after he threw a dirty blidnside headshot to Naslund, so I guess cheapshots run in the family. If the league won't respond then hopefully the Rangers do. Of course I am not advocating a Bertuzzi type incident but I hope that when Rupp, Prust, and/or Bickel step up and challenge Moore he doesn't back down like the ***** he is.
edit* If the league hasn't sad anything by now then nothing is going to happen, until 3/2 that is. Then when the Rangers retaliate they will get suspended/fined because that is the way it goes.

Not calling anyone up - especially Wolski (or Zucarello) - is a real bad sign for their future on the club. Which we knew already. Playing 11 Fwd & 7 D = Coach is basically saying "I´d rather have nobody play that position right now than either of you two". Oh well... Or maybe he wants to go to war with the Flyers (hence therefore Bickel playing) and then make the callup for the Washington game??? I would have used an emergency callup for Deveaux then as well - no?? Time will tell
