Penner should be moved ASAP for anything of value. If not, he should be benched.
Snap. Right on.

Sydor, why even question that stat? Penner is pathetic.

I think the out-clause is a formality and is an emergency basis sort of thing. How many players do you ever hear of getting called from Europe to the NHL mid season? None.
It doesn't matter what the contract says. Neither Holloway or Moller have a contract with LA so we couldn't recall them anyways.

Besides, I think both would have to go through waivers even if they were under contract. Moller would for sure I believe.

There's no reason Penner should be in the line up though. He serves no purpose. Any callup/grinder could do the job he does.
Not to defend Penner, as I'd be the last one to do that, but he has three goals in his last nine games. He's been better as of late (though I didn't see the Florida game I heard he was bad then).

For what the Kings likely want, yeah size is everything. I think they want to add some muscle to the line up for the lower lines and this game is an addition for that. Kozun isn't a lower lines guy.

Besides he just starting to find his groove this season after a slow start. Don't mess with it, let him keep it going.

Quick and Johnson's first taste of the NHl was hardly briliiant either.

If a guy goes through three different recalls and can't seem to stick, then I worry.

Yeah but ultimately the kings are playing like crap, so I put kings ahead of manchester. We need to fix the NHL team first.

Disappointed with the VV move. But it just tells me something is brewing!

Can you smell what the ROCK is cooking?

In the meantime, here are the lineups I would like to see...

Option A

Brown-Kopitar-Williams
Clifford-Richards-Nolan
Penner-Loktionov-Lewis
King-Fraser-/Westgarth/Richardson

Option B

Penner-Kopitar-Williams
Brown-Richards-Nolan
Clifford-Loktionov-Lewis
Fraser-Richardson-Westgarth-Hunter

Plan C

Penner-Kopitar-Williams
Brown-Loktionov-Nolan
Clifford-Richards-Lewis
Fraser-Richardson-King-Westgarth

Voynov wasn't playing, and it's not like he's been awesome lately anyway. I'm sure he'll be back up when Martinez is dealt. Not sure why everyone's so upset. Quite frankly I'm surprised that it's taken this long for some people to be called up to try something other than the same group of scoreless stiffs they've been rolling out there.

Penner on the first line? Last year Kopi and Penner were playing well together. But I feel he would "infect" Kopi with "suckage". Then all forwards would suck! Do it!

Also of note, but how sad is it for Manchester. Already goal deprived, but now they lose two of their top six goalscorers? Granted they do get Voynov back, but still. That has to hurt.

I'm sure the NHL has a priority compared to the AHL. Even the most diehard Monarchs fan would have to admit that.

The level of pathetic that Penner displays is remarkably unsurprising.

How many of those players have averaged 20+ goals the past few seasons? How many have scored 30 goals in the NHL?

you got your question answered. And now you are just self defending yourself for questioning a fact that 20 players scored 6+ goals while making less then 1 million$. Admit defeat and move along

Also:
Cheechoo scored 56 goals once. Kyle Calder led an NHL team in scoring. Frolov was the top Kings goalscorer in '07.
They aren't in the nhl anymore.

Wade Redded makes more and he is in the AHL.

Penner scored over 20 just last season. It's not like he is 35 and on the downward slope of his career.

When Penner signs with another team on July 1st, how many goals do you think he will score? Less than 10? Or over 20, like the rest of his career?

The Ducks will probably sign him and he will score 30 goals next season.

Is Simmonds better than Richards because he has 17 goals? Would you trade Kopitar for Simmonds? They both have 17 goals and Simmonds is way cheaper.

Should we look for all of the NHL defensemen that are doing better than Doughty and making less than $7 million?

^this exactly.

Saying that King isn't going to make it in the NHL or isn't any good after his first 6 game call up is absolutely insane.

If that is the rule then so many superstars would never have made it either.
