Honestly, I didn't even expect him to be re-signed last year. I'd be surprised if he was again, considering how far his play has fallen off. What's sad is he's gotten MORE ice time and more offensive roles and has 1/4th of the points he had last year. This is what happens when you give 13th forwards a permanent spot. I like Darche as an injury replacement, but no way we should be rolling with him in our lineup full time.
I'd re-sign him, depending on his price and if we have any chance or not of getting an ufa that can take his role. So far, he's hardworking, seems to be liked in the team, has experience. He's not a scorer, so he should be doing 4th liner work. Why not, again, if we can't get a better ufa for his spot and depending on prices?
I don't get the hate. Seriously, I don't. Sure, I don't get why he gets to play that often, but it sure ain't his fault. He's been a good 4th liner, great story, great team guy. He sure has my respect, and wherever he plays next year, whether it's for the Habs or not, I wish him good luck.
i don't get all the hate, the guy is paid league minimum and gives his heart out for the team. As long as he stays on the 4th line and doesn't get pp time, I'm ok with keeping him.

You can't just play "the young guns" like D'Agostini in those spots. They get a few minutes a game with crappy linemates and predictably they don't score, and then their confidence and energy falters, and they bust. Playing there did NOTHING for Pacioretty, Latendresse, D'Agostini, Sergei Kostitsyn, etc. They need top six in Montreal or top six in Hamilton. In the meantime, re-sign Darche. I don't want Gallagher playing fourth line wing.
Moen, Plekanec and Darche are currently playing really well. They are a very solid shut down line. Moen, Plekanec and Gionta would be better but eh...
If Darche is willing to re sign, one year, at 0,8M$, I would be a happy fan: he is a solid vet, he plays every shift like it is his last... the guy is a great 4th liner/#13F. Plus, if it becomes necessary, he does not look out of place on the top 9, PK or PP... but only for short stints!
Btw, when asked who is helping him the most, Louis Leblanc answered Cole and Darche. We need no bs veterans.
PS the people who hate Darche are mostly the same who were bashing Bouillon, Lapierre et al.

Again, lot of undeserved hate for Darche... not that it surprises me here.
I doubt he has much value right now and as far as re-signing him, we'll see during the summer, but he's cheap, has experience and leadership. I wouldn't be surprised if he's re-signs and battles with White, Blunden and cie for a spot next season with a waiving option in the air.
If anybody wants to offer a 7th rounder for him, then by all means do it !
If not, I wouldn't mind him back next year at minimum salary. A lot of forwards are gonna leave at years end (ideally before), and I'd like us to dress 12 frwds next season not 11, so he might be ok as a depth guy.
Plus I'm simply too tired to listen to the 10 months media uproar that would follow the departure of un autre p'tit gars de cheu-nous...
