If Moen is back, I don't want to even see Darche. If not, maybe we'll keep him, but if the Hamilton grinders are ready step up, then au revoir, Mathieu!

Blunden and White should be fighting for spots as early as the end of this season.

Youth must be served from time to time
now is the time
If we get a 4th rounder, I'll pack his bags for him

Great guy, but doesn't bring the grit and feistiness a true nhl 4th line should bring. Dime a dozen player...end of summer signing if needed...if he really wants to stay here 2 way contract.

I say re-sign. Total team guy, happy to sit out sometimes. Perfect as a 13th forward.

Honestly, I didn't even expect him to be re-signed last year. I'd be surprised if he was again, considering how far his play has fallen off. What's sad is he's gotten MORE ice time and more offensive roles and has 1/4th of the points he had last year. This is what happens when you give 13th forwards a permanent spot. I like Darche as an injury replacement, but no way we should be rolling with him in our lineup full time.

Not worth a 7th rounder. Does not bring toughness nor a pk specialist Or a face off dude

So in short what does he bring?

I'm okay with him at league minimum, one year as a forth line guy only.

I'd re-sign him, depending on his price and if we have any chance or not of getting an ufa that can take his role. So far, he's hardworking, seems to be liked in the team, has experience. He's not a scorer, so he should be doing 4th liner work. Why not, again, if we can't get a better ufa for his spot and depending on prices?

As the 13 forward, sure. I don't care.

I lol'd.

Better start fighting Darche because that's the only way I can see a team giving you a 1 year league minimum 2-way contract.

I don't get the hate. Seriously, I don't. Sure, I don't get why he gets to play that often, but it sure ain't his fault. He's been a good 4th liner, great story, great team guy. He sure has my respect, and wherever he plays next year, whether it's for the Habs or not, I wish him good luck.

You can't just play "the young guns" like D'Agostini in those spots. They get a few minutes a game with crappy linemates and predictably they don't score, and then their confidence and energy falters, and they bust. Playing there did NOTHING for Pacioretty, Latendresse, D'Agostini, Sergei Kostitsyn, etc. They need top six in Montreal or top six in Hamilton. In the meantime, re-sign Darche. I don't want Gallagher playing fourth line wing.

Moen, Plekanec and Darche are currently playing really well. They are a very solid shut down line. Moen, Plekanec and Gionta would be better but eh...

If Darche is willing to re sign, one year, at 0,8M$, I would be a happy fan: he is a solid vet, he plays every shift like it is his last... the guy is a great 4th liner/#13F. Plus, if it becomes necessary, he does not look out of place on the top 9, PK or PP... but only for short stints!

Btw, when asked who is helping him the most, Louis Leblanc answered Cole and Darche. We need no bs veterans.

PS the people who hate Darche are mostly the same who were bashing Bouillon, Lapierre et al.

Again, lot of undeserved hate for Darche... not that it surprises me here.

I doubt he has much value right now and as far as re-signing him, we'll see during the summer, but he's cheap, has experience and leadership. I wouldn't be surprised if he's re-signs and battles with White, Blunden and cie for a spot next season with a waiving option in the air.

He would actually be a perfect 13th forward...

Could go either way :

If anybody wants to offer a 7th rounder for him, then by all means do it !

If not, I wouldn't mind him back next year at minimum salary. A lot of forwards are gonna leave at years end (ideally before), and I'd like us to dress 12 frwds next season not 11, so he might be ok as a depth guy.

Plus I'm simply too tired to listen to the 10 months media uproar that would follow the departure of un autre p'tit gars de cheu-nous...

Exactly.

I don't want to resign him. And I don't want him on the team right now. He is just a waste of roster spot

Of course he wants to come back. Montreal is the only NHL city he has a job. He is ok as a 13th forward but realistically he has filled a quota on Montreal.
