Not that he isn't a good player and may not be the BPA but I think montreal has other needs.

While I agree, but I don't see why they wouldn't take him if he's the BPA. Canucks have Schneider and Luongo.

Agreed, but all things equal I skip on family connection. We can talk about "oh we can always trade him after to fill another need"...Yah, great goalie market out there, right?

Agreed, I don't really like family connections but Subban last I checked had MONSTER numbers. Like 1.8 GAA and .930 save%

if he falls to the 2nd round I see no reason why mtl wouldn't take a chance on him, after Price and Budaj, mtl is lacking goal tending depth. Not sure why everyone is throwing out Price vs Halak comparisons... the kid will be 18, how many players, never mind goalies, are ready to play at 18? He probably wouldn't be ready for at least 2-3 years, quite likely longer than that, as is the case with many goalies.

Well, or say make a run into the playoffs and our pick is 17th, say. Or 27th. Etc.

Love the optimism. With how they have been playing, much thanks to Price, that MAY be possible, albeit unlikely.

He's tops for GAA and SAV% for now but I don't know if he'll be able to keep that lead. Mark Visentin is 11-0-0 with 5 SOs and only 8 goals against since coming back from the world juniors.

last i checked, he was projected to go late in the first.

the habs definitely need a good goalie prospect, but to use a first for him? sadly, i don't think the subban-subban experiment will happen...

better chance to pick up jordan - who will also most likely be going in the first

seriously, i have nasty dreams about iceing this:

darche-darche-darche
subban-subban
subban

Perhaps, but the fact Malcolm hasn't been drafted and is on a FAR worse team makes it that much more impressive.

Just compare his numbers to Belleville's other goalies statistics if you want to see the difference he truly makes.

Malcolm Subban: 16-6-0, 1.94 GAA, .939 SV%
Charlie Graham/John Chartrand: 10-18-1, 3.73 GAA, .888 SV%

In all seriousness even if Price is signed long term we need goalies in the system. I don't think Price will be Theodore v2, but you really never know and while it's not too difficult to get decent goalies on the market, the fact that we have no NHL calibur goalies in the system right now isn't good. A player like Malcolm Subban would actually be perfect for the bulldogs, no pressure to rush him to the NHL, even of Price keeps it up it never hurts to have a great backup. If there's too much talent you then trade one of them for a nice return. So far it's looking like it worked out with Halak, and chances are this summer Boston is going to get something back for an old Tim Thomas because he still has enough left in the tank for a team that needs a playoff proven goalie.

The problem with Malcolm is he might have proven too much already. It's not worth wasting an early draft pick for a goalie considering his position. If by some miracle he falls to a later round I'd love to draft Malcolm Subban, but I doubt it. Either way we should be looking at goalies with one of our later picks.

Anyway, the all Subbans and Ellers lineup is still only a dream.

I HIGHLY doubt he falls to the "later rounds" especially if he keeps up his ridiculous numbers. I'd say he's a sure fire 1st rounder albeit a late one. But if he falls to the 2nd round it will be a steal for whoever nabs him.

This website, the NHL, and probably the entire internet would explode.

Imagine their post-game celebrations on the ice? Triple low five would have nothing on them!
