Its a sign and trade. Suter to Calgary for Iginla. Suter wants to follow in his uncle Gary's footsteps and play for the Flames. AND Suter's agent Neil Sheehy is another ex-Flame.

The Whale were in Springfield last night. Manchester tonight. Bridgeport tomorrow. Feaster is in New England. Maybe he's looking at Wolski. The Flames lost Blair Jones. Stempniak is hurt. So is Glencross.

would LOVE for Carter to be a Ranger. if you could get him without destroying this team as currently constructed (ie, no more than 1 current roster player)...id do it without a doubt (assuming that roster player isnt one of our more coveted guys..ie...henrik, gabby, richards, cally, staal, mcd, girardi, etc, etc, etc)

According to Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun, if the Rangers are to acquire Rick Nash, and according to Garrioch Glen Sather and the Rangers have interest, Columbus may demand Brandon Dubinsky, Chris Kreider and the Rangers first round pick this season.

Garrioch says that Nash would waive his no-move clause to get a deal done.

Columbus GM Scott Howson attended the Rangers and Flyers game today.
PLEASE GOD NO. I do not want Rick Nash on this team. He is so over rated and over paid it is not even funny.

Take out Kreider plug in Thomas and offer that for Carter. As bad as his stats have been this season I hate dealing Duby. The guy is a huge part of the core and has come up with some of these guys. Even though his numbers are down the guy is never dogging it out there. He hits, plays good defense and will always stick up for his teammates. Having said that you gotta give up some talent to get talent back.

according to capgeek (assuming I'm reading it right) the Rangers should have a shade under $7m available at the deadline. With the difference in salary between Dubi and Nash at about $3.5M, couldn't they do it comfortably? I shudder to think what it does to the roster in the future though...

Thats the worst part about Nash. Even if somehow they made it work this season, his cap hit is ridiculous and would probably hinder future UFA and RFA signings

Throw in Wolski and it'd be really, really, really hard to say no to that deal, coming from one of Nash's biggest criticizers (as a fan of his, though - I own a Nash t-shirt, I really like the guy, but there's a lot to be critical about). Giving up Kreider is difficult, but replace Dubinsky with Nash on this team and you have a team with 3 legitimate top-tier first line players. Try this:

Anisimov-Stepan-Gaborik
Nash-Richards-Callahan
Hagelin-Boyle-Fedotenko
Rupp-Mitchell-Prust

Won't happen, though.

I don't see Rick Nash as a option. Nearly $8M per year is way too hard to fit.

yeah.

Don't get me wrong...LOVE Nash...guy has unreal talent and really has never had anything to work with during his entire career in Columbus. But I would MUCH rather have Carter than Nash. nearly 3 million dollar difference in salary and the point production is about the same.

Pretty sexy lineup though to think about it.

If we had space, and could replace CK with somebody else (McIlrath? Miller?) I make that deal without batting an eye.

Add Nash to this team and there's the top 6 LWer we've all been clamoring for.

Love Nash as a player but the Jackets paid him to stay so the franchise didn't lose their best player. While I think Nash would thrive with a quality center, I think Carter is the better option.

Agreed that Carter is a much more realistic option due to the cap hit disparity, but I'm still concerned about Carter's ability to transition to the wing.

yep. totally agreed. you bring in Nash, youre going to have a hell of a time keeping these young kids in the future. You bring in carter, it becomes MUCh easier...and frankly, they are comparable players offensively. Nash is more talented overall with his hands and vision, Carter has the better shot.

yeah, except that you're going to have to give out raises to Stepan, Mcdonagh, and MDZ very soon. It's a lot easier when you have ~3 mil extra banked by going after Carter over Nash.

Rick Nash at Jeff Carters cap hit of 5.2... I would do unspeakable things to make that happen. But nearly 8 million is just too much.

ugh..can you just imagine that PP though?

Nash - Stepan - Gaborik
MDZ - Richards

*drool* may not work, but on paper looks damn sexy.

Don't get me wrong, I am not advocating bringing in Nash. If I had to pick I would prefer Carter.
