Not that fighting matters, just an interesting fact

Brawl in Marlies game last night Frattin and Aulie with big wins and Frattin scoring again

Perhaps time has come

Konopka is also an idiot...... and useless.

He wanted to fight Phaneuf because Phaneuf put a clean shot on Da Costa and knocked him out.

Next......

The point is the Leaf team used to be a lot more physical and now 1 player on our rival Ottawa has more fights than our entire team

Dont want him just a point

Zenon Konopka could be replaced with a sponge and be just as effective.

Woah there, don't diss Lord Zenon, he might order the mothership to abduct or zap you.

Who cares? Ryan Hollweg fought. Zenon Konopka fought. They're useless and fighting doesnt make your team tough or physical.

Invalid argument.

Leafs want a player more like clowe. he also takes a lot of dumb penalties and given the leafs PK I'm not sure that is smart.

That's all very nice, but he's also a pretty useless player.

This would be a better thread if it were "We need to bring Jay Rosehill out of the pressbox,"

Because Rosehill is a better player and better fighter than Konopka, and he's not cracking our lineup.

The team has not been playing scared, so they don't need him in the lineup. That could be somewhat re-considered after the last couple of games.

he leads nhl in hits is 22 6'3' 220 and is praised on Islanders board for his winning of board battles for puck and he has 13 pts and plays 13 minutes a game

Yeah useless....no he is the type pf player we need on bottom 6

We don't lose games because we don't fight. We lose games because of scoring problems, defense problems, goaltending problems or all three combined like last night's game.

We wont win without players who can hit and play with grit not goons...

Board battles and protecting front of the net...we do not do this at all and this is why we get hemmed in our own end...team speed is of no help here..

The point is he is a liability. He's not needed on the bottom six. Brown does a better job, and if we needed a Konopka, we'd bring up Orr.

The Leafs were flat out not good enough last night, it's weird that team toughness gets singled out by Hawaii as why we lose.

He's actually a pretty good faceoff man

Take that back.

The team plays softer than a peewee team. They are scared out of their mind. Kessel, grabovski, kulemin, and all of our skilled players are scared to get into serious battles because they have no one to back them up.

If PK Subban roughed up Sundin like he did to kessel, he would have gotten his skull caved in by Belak, Domi and Tucker. But when it happened to kessel, everyone just watched. This team is a disgrace, especially for Burke.

Konopka is a plug who holds on to dear life for half has fights and is ok at faceoffs other then that hes just a stiff. But I do agree with you that we need some team toughness BADLY in the lineup. We missed out on signing Rupp and Prust in recent years. Hopefully this offseason we sign Parros or someone like that. I don't get the posters who are so against having a tough team. Its a physical game ladies you need some toughness and a few guys on your team that can scrap if you dont like it **** and watch curling.

Masyo88 i completely agree 100%

This site is full of people like Mooseoak an inappropriate name for the poster who feels we should have zero grit at all and should base team on speed..

I think team speed over the top 2-3 lines is good, can't say our 4th line is not gritty, Armstrong, Steckel, Brown are more then gritty enough. I would love to have a fighter on our team who could play the game but unfortunately most of the elite guys are useless in every other aspect of the game. Unless you want to bring in a middle weight or two.
