It's what separates the true Capitals fans from the bandwagoners.
Honestly I'm still pretty young I've only been following the team since the 98 cup run but this is definitely the most frustrating season for me to watch. Everything that could go wrong pretty much has.
It always feels as if things will get better soon and for the most part they somehow continue to get worse
I just want Green back
Edit I know everyone would want big changes if the team misses the playoffs, but I still doubt it happening
George McPhee....The Teflon GM. 15 years of failure and counting....
6 - Number of playoff series the Capitals have won since George McPhee took over as General Manager in 1997 (which makes him the third-longest-tenured GM in the League), three of which came in McPhee's first season on the job.
as always it depends on the specifics. if this team gets green back in mid march and backstrom in early april and then make the playoffs as a 7 or 8 seed. then win in the first round over boston or nyr and then lose a competitive 2nd round series, i'd say nothing major changes.
conversely if they miss the playoffs, hunter says he's not coming back and leonsis and patrick change gm's.
if backs and green dont return and they scratch into the playoffs, i doubt there are changes either. it needs to play out.
