I missed 3/4s of last season but caught up somewhat today - I did miss on that dude that Shane shot in the leg, they kept showing in on the "Previously on" and whatnot, what the hell was that?

Long story short Shane and Otis rushed to get medical supplies for Rick's son from a place that was crawling with walkers. They got the supplies and were stuck after being trapped by walkers. When they finally found a way out they were still being chased by walkers. Shane shot Otis in the leg to give him time to escape because I'm pretty sure Shane busted his ankle pretty bad. Otis was eaten alive.

Ah okay, the episode where they got stuck out there was probably the last one I saw - it ends with them realizing they were totally ****ed after getting the supplies from the trailer.

Though that's a key component to Shane's character development the rest of that season

I know right? I was really not expecting that to happen, I figured they were going to stay on for a couple of episodes as fillers. Rick is officially going into badass mode. I wonder whats going to happen to Laurie, though.

Good episode overall. Looking forward to next weeks.
