Glad to see the two of them up with the team but...I sure hope there are no trades...yet. I don't want to see any trades until closer to the deadline...get as much as possible for anyone traded...

Didn't read the whole thread. But Schultz, really ? Didn't look all that good in camp.

And tomorrow would be 4 gms in 4 nights for them ; that a lot to ask to a human body. And in a stronger league, it would be putting them in a position for failure. I don't like it. If they suspected they'd need a call-up (or 2) they should have pulled them from today's match.

Anyway, good that we can look forward for a fight or 2 tomorrow !

I don't get all the glee. Are we suppose to expect that Schultz is gonna beat the crap out of Thornton or Lucic ? Not sure he's even good enough for a regular shift...

I'm happy that White is back. Good gritty player. Natural Moen replacement if he leaves.

But nor he and or Schultz shift the balance of toughness : if we want to play that game against Boston, they will destroy us and we will cry about it.

Schultz is a lousy fighter. Of all the videos I have seen I am not impressed one bit. He better not touch Lucic unless he wants to get knocked out. White is ten times tougher than him, and that isnt saying much. Atleast White can hold his own against guys of his caliber.

I don't want Scultz to fight Thornton. I just want some players able to fight. To have more entertaining games and protect our players.

Maybe Schultz was called up just to play hockey? Probably on a 4th line, probably for minimal minutes.

happy schultz has been called up but i don't get it...

by all accounts the guy isn't ready for the nhl yet and his fighting isn't enough to fight thornton. so.... what's the point?

this is what i see happening: he'll play a few minutes, look slightly out of place, will fight someone and he will get his face re-arranged. overall: pointless.

besides, who in the league has ever gone to the bruins' level and came out winning? seriously. every team that has ever attempted to imitate the bruins get humiliated. the hurricanes, the canadiens, never go down to their level and more often than not, come out on top

hoping for the best, but expecting a whole lot of nothing.

now white on the other hand

It's not ONLY for the game against the Bruins. We are dead last in fighting majors in the NHL so we must improve that department, game against the bruins or not.

If he can't fight Thornton, he probably can't fight Chara nor Lucic. If he can't successfully fight the other team's fighter, how is he gonna protect anybody ? And from all accounts, he's not really apt at hockey either... So what good is he ?

If it's emergency based, then ok I guess. As I said, I just didn't get the glee the news of a sub-par bruiser has brought in some people. Not at all.

of course it's not ONLY for the bruins. but i can't see him having any use to the team besides taking punches in staged fights. we'll see. my mind is open

@ the bolded part: seriously, that's something to improve on? blows my mind...

Exactly.

Some of the posts here (you know who you are) are idiotic. The successful teams have talent on the top two lines, have speed, play aggressive hockey on defense and yes, have tough players who can fight.

Have been seeing some really childish and over the top posts on this thread.

some of you guys crack me up. we weren't big and tough enough so we call up two guys with grit and we're worried Schultz can't beat thornton and lucic? who the **** cares? they're here to make the team grittier and tougher to play against. it's not about winning fights, it's about showing up and playing with an edge...deterring the other team. if they know habs can respond, they'll take notice. even if our guys don't always win the scraps.

Seriously. Do you want Cole, Pacioretty, Subban, Kostitsyn dropping the gloves?

Or would you rather have Moen, Schultz or White take care of the rough stuff for them?

Or, would you rather this team be the turn the other cheek and take it team like we have been for too long.

Do me a favor. Watch the Rangers play a game this year. And then see if you can notice anything different between them and us. And then notice that they are in first place in their division and we are not. Thanks.

All but Schultz yes. White and moen can play. Schultz is still developing. I'm not gonna bash it though because whats the harm for a small call up? Not like we're gonna make playoffs anyway so doesn't hurt but please, it goes both ways. We can't pretend he's as good as white or moen yet. I think white and moen are even better fighters.

That being said, I'm glad to see white back. Love the guy.
