Strange Stats Thread

This thread shall be dedicated to all the strange hockey statistics out there that make you scratch your head and wonder how they are possible. Here's a stat that I fell upon.

When Nashville scores the first goal, their record is 14 W - 7 L - 3 OT (.583)
When they concede the first goal, Their record is 13 W - 5 L - 2 OT (.650)

They have a better chance of winning if the other team scores first. Wonder what their game plan is?

Another Amazing stat..

It was still true a couple weeks ago but I haven't checked since

Eric Staal has 26 goals this year, but none when his team has the lead!

Talk about clutch!

He scored a goal (one of the 3) in the game he played today when his team was winning.

well he scored a hat trick. but at the moment of his first goal, that was the tying goal. he ended up also scoring the winning goal. and the "ha ha, i ownz you" goal.

Damn.. well it was cool while it lasted.

(Although he scored that goal with 9 seconds left in the third to ensure the victory... so still kinda clutch. )

I was just curious in knowing if anyone here knows which current player in the NHL holds the longest absense from making the playoffs?

I was thinking it could possibly be Olli Jokinen with 524 games and counting. (I could be wrong because I really didn't put much of an effort in gathering data)
