Luckily I didn't have to suffer through the last 15 minutes of the 3rd period due to the fact that I had a game myself but a couple observations:
-On the first goal, what in god's name was Campoli doing on the ice on the PP
-Kaberle looked absolutely foolish on Staal's shorthanded goal (This coming from a guy who doesn't hate Kabs)
-Our PP actually looked pretty good other than the Staal goal
-Really physical game, I liked it
From what I saw, they may have been outcoached a bit, but in all the team played a solid game. I didn't see the latter half of the 3rd period collapse, but judging by the shot totals they came to play. This was a game they should have won but didn't (Story of the season, no?) so they're just going to have to counteract it by winning a game they have no business beating (Like the Bruins on Wednesday). The fate of the season and our position as buyers or sellers come trade deadline will be determined in the coming week. Bruins, Sabres, Devils, win those three or it's all but done. And for the love of god, learn to hold a lead...
I agree with you but I'm not sure the team can recover. Washington was losing ( so they stay at 61 pts) and the team came back to make it 3-2 with 20 minutes left... to come out with zero point hurts.
Ottawa plays Tampa tommorow... if OTT wins we're 11 pts back with 2 games in hand, if TB wins they pass us for 11th.
Obviously, mathematically it doesn't look good. Problem with those teams is that they are just awful and worst than us. I didn't check, but unless they are playing each other, chances are they'll lose more than they wins. Frankly, I see our battle as being us vs 1 of Florida/Washington. Or even Ottawa and Toronto. That's it.
All this time I thought I was preaching in the desert (OOT thread), but I'M glad someone else finally realize it...
games in hand, cold/hot streak, it doesnt matter all that much... these teams who are "fighting" with us for a better pick (so to speak), well, they are where they are for a reason -> they suck.
All that means is that you pro-tank types get a couple of more years tanking. Isn't life grand!
And we get two more years listening to the incessant ****ing whining.
This is a season where everything that can go wrong, has gone wrong. I doubt it repeats itself.
Plus there can be some UFA additions.
Ottawa has 0 players from last year's draft on their team right now, but they've managed to turn their team around by being healthier, players playing better, and getting a key addition or two via trades and UFA.
Highly doubt a playoff team would even pick him up off waivers.
I ain't his biggest fan but I'll be honest the way he has been playing in the past couple of weeks he can surely help a team in the playoffs. It's not because we use him 20 minutes a game that other teams can't use the guy properly
