Could the Flyers be interested in Nash?

http://espn.go.com/blog/nhl/post/_/i...de-saga-begins

Quote:
The Rangers, Kings and Philadelphia Flyers would make sense to me, although the math would be really tight in New York given the money already tied up in Brad Richards, Marian Gaborik and Henrik Lundqvist. But no doubt Nash represents just what the Blueshirts need. And there are always ways to get creative cap-wise. The Rangers have some young pieces (led by Chris Kreider) that might entice the Jackets. Howson, after all, took in the Rangers-Flyers game over the weekend.

Which brings me to the Flyers, whom I believe also have interest in Nash and certainly have the young pieces to get involved (Braydon Schenn, James Van Riemsdyk or Sean Couturier, etc). Can you imagine Rick Nash on a line with Claude Giroux?
I would just be terrified about adding him because of that cap hit. If JVR went the other way, I would love to get him . I would think though we would have to add more. Also because of salary reasons, we would need to add.

So what's everyone's opinion of Rick Nash and possibly playing with Claude Giroux?

From Lebrun so I consider it credible.

@GlobeKPD
Could envision CBJ-PHI-TOR in deal. Nash lands in TOR. Bob lands in CBJ. PHI-CBJ
share bunch of TOR goodies.

Obviously defense should be first priority if anything.

However there are two sides to this coin: having Rick Nash would be incredible. Great player and scorer. That is only if the price is right.

However cap flexibility is so key in this day and age. High cap hit tied to years is the detriment.

Assumed to be. The only way that this would be awesome is if we got Luke Schenn.

NO to Rick Nash! We need a defenseman, not a 65 pt $7.8M winger.

not sure if serious? If the flyers had to just give BOB as the main piece for Schenn, We would do it in a heartbeat. They would just ride Bryz for the rest of the year and Bring Hovinon(spelling) over next year.

Trading Bob would make sense of the rumors about the Flyers looking at Veteran goaltenders like Nabakov were true.

If Briere is going and Nash is coming.. Hell yes, to Nash. If Bryzgalov is going and Nash is coming. Yes.

I like Nash. Nash never did play with anyone good there. It was old Fedorov, it was hmmm I do not even remember, was it Umberger with Brassard? The only decent centers in Columbus in last 10 years.

Big fan of Nash.

TSN via RDS and the Columbus Dispatch both apparently said he is on the market though since he has an NMC he gets to choose where he goes edit if anywhere.

http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=387786

I don't want him though. He costs too much and we have no problem scoring, though his defense would be nice (he is lauded as a two player right?), but I don't think his cap hit is worth it.

edit- I really don't want this to happen if this rumor is true.

why do we keep giving up Bobrovsky in trade proposals? the 2 ****bags down in Adirondack need to clear waivers to get called up, and honestly I dont want either goalie in goal for the Flyers. Especially with the problems the team has defensively.

Don't think it will ever happen.

But in fairness Giroux is going to need a legit first line winger eventually.

The only thing I could argue with this is, that if BOB is traded, then "Cash" would back up Bryz and he would get the majority (if not all) the starts from now until the off season. Then go get a back up during our off season spending spree we always do!

Don't need a forward. Need defense. Don't need to trade a goalie. Need to add another goalie.

I changed the thread title to Speculation rather then rumor.

I don't know. I am torn.

The idea of Nash-Giroux-Jagr is appealing, but Nash makes too much. I would rather have Suter for a slightly less cap hit on this team.

Bob worked in for Schenn would be worth it in the 3 way scenario. (Although 3 ways are rare unless you are Ron Jeremy).
