He will need at least 1 year in the AHL, probably 2.

Dean really needs to get Holloway and Moller back in LA for camp next season.

Yep, and I don't like the idea of trading for Nash much. That would be ideal.

Im no scout, but I have taken a big interest in Toffs. From everything I have heard he will most likely spend next year in manchester, and if he progresses properly then he could make the jump to the big league 2013-2014. Im hoping he blows em away in training camp and preseason though, and sticks next year.

all I said is the guy might be right, it's what they're asking for...it's up to Dean to negotiate it down. What does this have to do with how much I value those guys. The only guy in that group I'd involve in a trade for Nash is JJ. But I think DL overvalues DB and JJ and that was my point.

what is the cap hit and length of the contract? the guy is a very good goal scorer, and playing with kopitar might do good things for the guys career. I am on the fence about getting rick nash, but if the cost is JJ, Bernier, and a 1st, it makes me lean a little towards the rick nash side of the fence.

Who would you be willing to trade? How much would be too much for you?

$7.8 million cap hit, 6 more years. Expires in 2018.

He's 27 now. NMC through 2015 and a NTC through 2018.

It's up to Nash where he gets traded. Columbus will let him know which teams have offered enough and he gets to pick where he goes.

if we got nash, when quick gets his raise we will be spedning nearly half our cap on 4 players. just though i'd throw that out there.

Yeah, it probably isn't tenable. All that money tied up into Nash, Kopitar, Doughty, Quick, and Richards would make things rough.

But considering the team is already raising ticket prices for next year by a lot, they might wanna consider bringing in a star like Nash because people aren't going to want to pay 25% more to see this boring *** team play.

With the new TV deals (NBC + new Canadian TV deal coming up + solid Beer contracts) + Atlanta to Winipeg move plus Stars sale there might be another 3mio$+ cap raise (asuming the CBA negotiation won't change too much).
At least I wouldn't be shocked by a raise again.

I would prefer Carters contract over Nashs though.

Well, since you're asking...and I'm no GM, but...

I'd give Howson a list of all of our assets, the 50 contracts we have plus all our picks for the next 3 or 4 years. I'd cross out this years #1, I'd cross out AK, JQ, MR & DD8 and say, pick 2 roster players and your choice of 2 picks or prospects and you have a deal.

We just need Sanford back as well if JB is going.

or if for some reason Howson wanted to do a total rebuild with kids.. I might give him 2 prospects his choice and 2 or 3 picks so long as it didn't mean 1,2,3 in next years draft... stagger them of course.

But honestly I think the Kings need to act with urgency here.

Ouch, that pulls me back onto the other side of the fence. Thats a huge cap hit on a team where we already have two 7 mil contracts.

CAPGEEK.COM CAP CALCULATOR

FORWARDS
Dustin Brown ($3.175m) / Anze Kopitar ($6.800m) / Rick Nash ($7.800m)
Zach Parise ($7.000m) / Mike Richards ($5.750m) / Justin Williams ($3.650m)
Kyle Clifford ($0.870m) / Andrei Loktionov ($0.816m) / Trevor Lewis ($0.725m)
Dwight King ($0.591m) / Brad Richardson ($1.175m) / Jordan Nolan ($0.531m)
Simon Gagne ($3.500m) / Kevin Westgarth ($0.725m)

DEFENSEMEN
Rob Scuderi ($3.400m) / Drew Doughty ($7.000m)
Vyacheslav Voinov ($0.816m) / Willie Mitchell ($2.500m)
Alec Martinez ($0.737m) / Matt Greene ($2.950m)
Davis Drewiske ($0.616m)

GOALTENDERS
Jonathan Quick ($1.800m) / Jeff Zatkoff ($0.577m)

CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $63,508,332; BONUSES: $342,500
CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $791,668

That's a nice roster. And the Kings could still add if Gagne is on LTIR. Mitchell takes a $1 million pay cut so the Kings could sign Parise.

Quick signs for $5 million because the team is so strong next season and the Kings win the cup.

It might be time to buy NHL12 and give it a whirl.

ading two 7mio+ guys is probably too much and Quick's gonna get a major contract raise.
Plus you have to have some faith in your prospects. I would think Vey, Kozun, Toffoli, Holloway, Andreoff should at least have some consideration for a forward spot.

I would think that adding one impact player (Nash/Carter/Parise) + Ruutu (McArthur/Kulemin) would be enough. Plus the cap space availible could be used at the next years trade deadline to aquire a guy like Iginla (I don't think Iginla will stay with the Flames past the next trade deadline)

I find it comical how cap obsessed everyone is. Get the guy, then worry about. Worked for CHI a few years ago, Philadelphia got to the Finals doing that, Boston had issues and solved them...all have recovered quite nicely. And the Kings probably WILL NOT have to worry as much as they did.

If we're talking about fantasy scenarios, I'd rather have Suter as UFA than Parise.
