I agree, dont forget that Hitch really seems to like Russell. I also think putting Huskins with Petro makes more sense than putting him with Polak. We have 7 veteran NHL defensemen when everyone is healthy. Not sure Huskins is better than either Russell or Carlo either. He brings something different but Im not sure if he is better than those two.

Thanks cbjgirl, I'll fix once I get home. Your team has a lot of injuries so I was going by a combination of the line-up thread and ice-time minutes from their last game. It was also difficult because almost your whole forward corp is shown as playing Center on Yahoo Sports.

It seems like every GDT recently a group of people come in here to say they are worried. And all the Blues keep doing is winning.
I just don't like games that we really should be winning.
The Blue Jackets have lost 13 of their 15 Division games; their only regulation win coming against Detroit, the other win being in OT against Nashville.

I can sort of explain it.
There are a lot of times that Carlo, by playing with Pietrangelo, has his rather glaring mistakes covered up..and there is thought that if Pie were playing with a more competent defensive partner his offense would bloom.
The first part I can agree with, the second seems rather speculative.
As an example of the first point...I remember one instance very, very clearly. It was the Colorado game in December. Colorado comes in to the zone with a 2 on 2 with a third man trailing. Instead of blocking off the inside line and playing the pass first, Carlo attempts to play the shot and guards the outside...in so doing he inadvertently creates a 2 on 1 that Colorado scores on.
A high school defenseman could look at that situation (which did not develop at a terribly high speed by the way) and tell you exactly what was wrong and what should have been done. These sort of mistakes are quite common by Carlo, however thanks to the Blues defensive style they are quite mitigated. Put him on a less defensively talented team and he would be exposed far too often.
Not that I think Russel is any better, or that the Blues could get away with a trio of Jackman clones...they really need a top-pairing defenseman for the left side so teams have a harder time finding someone to isolate on.
I just don't like games that we really should be winning.
