Who Would You Prefer To Acquire?

The trading deadline is fast approaching. Since we nee the obvious "scoring." And with Dean on a HOT SEAT, raising ticket prices next year it's more than likely Dean will make a trade on or before Feb 27.

That being said, who would you prefer to acquire?

Prefer to acquire Nash and Parise.... Will it happen? Doubt it. I think the title should be, "who do you think we get". But that's just me.

I'm not a big Nash fan. I would like to acquire Carter or Parise. But since Carter is a center, there's really no need for us to have 5 centers and there's no need for him to be on the 3rd line. Also, everyone knows how much Nash is getting paid. $7.8 is a lot of $$$. With that cap hit, i would rather have Parise.

Parise has his scars too. He only has one year left and who knows if he'll stick around. Plus he'd cost a fortune in cap hit if he signs and prospects and picks to aquire. On top of that, I just don't see him working under the current regime.

Carter is a better center and is locked up for 10 years. he also has alleged off ice issues and has not put forth much effort on the ice in Columbus and according to Melrose, he hasn't exactly busted ass recovering from injuries. He does play well at a wing if needed though.

Nash is a huge cap hit but is 27 and will work in any system we employ. He will cost a ton in picks and prospects. We will no doubt have to give up our young defense as well as picks and prospects.

Honestly, I would like to get a guy that works for now and the future but I just don't see it working out in the long run.

I like Parise too but it won't happen. So I just picked the most possible scenarios.

EDIT: I just would like to see what the fans like us prefer. And who would get the most votes....

Nash - I'm willing to trade Bernier and JJ as the meat of the package for him. Dump Penner off on someone for a late round pick or include him in the deal with Columbus. Bernier's value is wasted if he just sits behind Quick. I think JJ is overrated due to the fact that he's a physical specimen and put up some good point totals. You just can't be -21 on a team that had a +21 goal differential and be considered a top flight defenseman.

Parise - Would rather just wait for him to test the market in July. Keep our assets and just throw money at him. I'd rather have him than Nash but don't see the Devils willing to move him.

Jeff Carter - Not as down on him as others seem to be. Wouldn't do much more than Bernier + prospect for him.

Cost to get these players is a consideration, but if we could acquire any of them at a 'fair' price, it's Nash for me.

It's for a simple reason, really. The Kings play against all these guys, but he's the only one that scares me when he's in the offensive zone carrying the puck. If he makes me grip the handles of my seat, he's a guy I want on my team.

No one. Just get rid of Penner and Stoll, keep Nolan and King and pray Gagne is healthy soon.

I like Nash. But not at that price tag $7.8 million!!!!
So I picked Semin.

However, if we were to pick Nash I would rather wait for Parise. At least we don't have to give up the farm.

We go with plan B. Maybe a Kostisyn, Huselius, Glencross or Prospal.

EDIT: I think I should transfer this post to our Trade and Free Agent Thread....

Yeah. "Other" or "Nobody" should be poll options.

Had to flip a coin between Iginla and Nash... Nash won...even though either one would be a large cap hit...

Ruutu if he's healthy by the deadline... He'd probably be the least expensive one listed and I think he's the best fit in this system and look great as a replacement for Penner.

Whoever the Kings pick up, I hope there will still be room to resign Quick.

Ruutu is off the market, Carolina is trying to resign him.

Because of interest in resigning him and now injury, Tuomo Ruutu is no longer a trade option.

i'd prefer nash, but the 7.8 cap hit is tough. in reality if we can dump penner though....i wouldn't mind paying a little more than double penner's salary to get nash.

This list is so loaded against Kostitsyn and Glencross, and strangely those are the 2 I would like to get the most.

Mainly because they could be had for cheaper then the rest, and they would add what we need.

For the right price:

1. Carter
2. Iginla
3. Nash
4. Kos
5. Semin

Perfect world, Iginla. But that's impossible. Glencross has an NTC, but I like him a lot too.

Nash makes the most sense to me. He's used to playing in a small market, #1 LWer, under 30, will fit into the current Kings system, leadership abilities, an impact winger which is something the Kings do not have right now and it's a Lombardi job saver-type move. And we won't have to watch any of the players dealt the other way lift the Cup anytime soon.

This, minus Nash. I hope that if we do get Nash someone digs up this thread about a year later. It'll be a great read during the several "Nash sucks, trade him for whatever we can get, DL is an idiot" posts that will pop up.

I like Nash the most but the amount it would cost and his cap hit in union make it a bad move. My opinion is Carter. It would be far cheaper, leaving us with more assets to play with, more salary space to spend.

The rest are too expensive for what they are. Buy a bargain when you see it. Even if you dont need it.

Nash all the way. #1 issue, the Kings need a game-changer on the wing. No one else on the list can hold a candle to him in that department. I don't consider Iginla to be available, anyway Nash is much younger than Iginla.

As for his cap hit, yes that's large, but that's why the Kings employ a capologist.
