He's a midwestern guy. He would be a half day car ride from his home state of Michigan. Not so bad.

Maybe Deano should try and swing a deal that lands us both Nash AND Carter. Everybody's happy; Johnson gets to go back home (sorta), Carter and Richards are happy because their bromance is renewed in LA, and Nash gets to play on good team.

The only unhappy people in the deal would be Columbus fans. But their used to that feeling.

I guess that makes me feel a little better... It just sucks; sign a 7 year deal, get banished to Columbus for your prime. I will instantly get over it I'm sure if we end up getting Nash. Hopes officially up.

They're actually even in that regard statistically.

Last 5 seasons
Nash Goals: 161 / GPG: .440
Carter Goals: 156 / GPG: .441

But keep in mind the teams they played for the last 5 seasons. I give an edge to Nash. Also, the length of Carter's deal and the fact that he's a center and LAK doesn't need another one.

But if Carter came cheaply enough and CLB insisted on a top6 back for Nash, I'd be OK with Carter I guess. Kinda tired of Philly's scraps though.

Zidlicky waives NTC for NJ. Deal not done yet. Always liked Zidlicky's play.

Rick Nash's cap hit is too high. 7.8

Ryan Smyth only had a 6.25 cap hit. We should bring him back.

Isn't he from Indianapolis though? It's only a two hour drive from Columbus.

I'm always wary of huge trades, but I'm down with giving up a lot for Nash. On the bright side, if he gets traded that means he's waiving NTC; which also means he wants to go where he ends up.

I have this feeling Brown's going to be involved though. More like Bernier, Brown, Voynov. Who knows.

I don't even care about risks at this point. Can't get worse than the eternal mediocrity we're in now.

I think he was born in Indiana but raised in Michigan. Either way, I doubt he'd be thrilled about going to the Blue Jackets since they suck and their proximity to the Ohio State campus.

As a fellow suffering Kings fan, I always assume it could get worse. There are teams that suck more right now with even less contract flexibility and a chance to fix things going forward.

I'm down with a big gamble of a trade. But this feels like making up for years of being overly cautious with UFAs to being completely reckless over Nash instead. Once you go down that road, you're locked in for six years of one of the league's highest cap hits.

Sign me up for Carter instead (hand him the second line or just let him deal with being a winger) or another left wing target like JVR.

I just see other avenues I'd rather go down than Nash. I hope AEG or DL's job pressures wouldn't be driving this.

Will Parise get more than $7.8M/year (cap hit)? If we wait until the off-season then offer him what we would have given Nash, it may be hard for him to turn down that much money, and we keep these assets. It would be a huge risk to take, just trying to figure out what ZP will be offered this off-season.

Just get both. Parise for $7 million and Nash for $7.8 million.

A scenario might develop wherein we get Nash, the summer happens, and if Parise agrees to a deal with us at least $1 million (or so) less than the Nash deal, we sign Parise & trade Nash to (probably) Toronto for picks. I can see this happening.

free agency happens before CBA negotiations right. just offer parise a similar contract to brad richards. ticket prices would probably increase again though.

Yes, but one will have to go. Parise is the better two-way player, so I'd ship Nash to Toronto. Obviously, I'm jumping ahead here, but sometimes forward thinking is necessary.
