Why would we draft a guy, develop him into an almost GPG guy in the AHL while always playing on a **** team, then trade him for another prospect? There is no reason to trade him unless in a package for a #2 center/#1 dmen or for a STUD center prospect/Gudbranson or Hamilton.

What about Jeffery? Led the ahl in points until his call up. Definitely has the ability to become a 2C...

We have guys with the ability to become a number 2 center. If we dealt for one it would be someone who could step in and do it next year.

Jeffery could do that. In the absence of Sid and Staal he was our clear cut 2c. He's on a sweetheart deal too.

We're not looking for Martin. Despres is intriguing for his talent on an ELC. We could justify having him on a third pairing for the next season and a half.

No need for Martin even if he wasnt massively overpayed. He would be our highest paid defender and arguably our 4th best defender.

Cash means alot to the Ducks. ELCs mean alot to the Ducks.

I think Duck fans think Martin has too big of a cap hit for what he brings to the table. I can see that being the only reason they don't want him. Granted this is a small sample size, but last nights Ducks/Wild game made Martin look like a top pair guy for both teams.....Harding and Hiller were freakin ridiculous last night.....They are the only reason that each team didn't score 6+ goals.

OK, thought Martin would be a fit in Anaheim. My bad. The point of moving Martin is to insert Despres.

What about Scott Harrington for one of your excess winger prospects?

That game was just ugly in general.

Martin wouldn't get into our top 4. Who does he displace? He doesn't displace Beauch who's been our best defenceman by a mile this season and is paired with Fowler. Sbisa is paired with Lubo and is playing career best hockey as well, he might have a chance, but why knock someone out of the top 4 if they are playing career best hockey?

But as you said, small sample size. 'Nuff said.

Why would we want him? And we don't exactly have an EXCESS. If you want Friberg that's fine, but I think Anaheim will just wait and see on Palmieri and Etem.

Is this a joke? I hope you are not talking about Palmieri/etem/DSP/.

Palmieri: GPG in AHL

Etem: 50 goals in 50 games in WHL

DSP: made NHL out of camp at 19

What has Harrington been up to?

Remember, two of our top 4 defensemen have only a season and a half under their belt while showing no sign of slowing in their progression. We're not going to kick them out for Martin.

I must be mixing him up with Rakell, then. Either way, it doesn't matter as Harrington isn't a need.

Martin would easily be in our top 4, we just can't afford his contract and won't trade quality assets like Palmieri for him.

As for the OP, Palmieri won't be dealt unless it's in a package for a legitimate top 6 player. He's not going to be swapped for lesser prospects or cap dumps, that's for sure.
