Random thoughts... I wonder what the #1 conception holiday is?
I'm guessing V-Day or NYE?

The most popular birthday is October 5. That would line up with NYE.

Taylor was born 10/10, but I know for a fact she wasn't a NYE baby.

LOL. Every one I went to back in the day was a sausage fest.

I'm actually not having too bad a stretch. I'm almost back to where I was right before I met the recent ex. Just hanging out, doing stuff, meeting people, and not really stressing over anything.

Drinking with a group of 24 year olds like I did last week was a little weird, but they were hot, so that made up for it. :p

That's pretty much what they all were but my buddy had his gf at the time bring her friend one night. We ended up watching a movie together and they did the wink wink, nudge nudge, why don't you give her a ride home routine. ~7 years later and we were married

Yep, you got it. Basically at the time it was us lugging around desktop towers and CRT monitors into each others parents' basements or garages, stocking up on pop, energy drinks, junk food and eventually alcohol, staying up all night long and playing, Q3A, CS, NFS:HP, AOE, etc.

Good times

20 of these guys sitting on the same network.

Just kidding. I used to play the urine out of Quake 2 / Team Fortress Classic / etc etc etc back in the day. Never at a LAN party, though.

Guy at work was talking about that game and how if you get the one giant robot you can pretty much own everyone. Now I need to setup a LAN party at my house in the basement. Probably not compatible with Win 7 though...

Just because I had friends and you didn't doesn't give you the excuse to make fun of me

Actually it looked more like this (WARNING - actual LAN party photos):

I still remember back when I was a kid, my friend next door and I used to play Doom for hours. Both our parents got pissed because we were tying up the phone line all the time, so we ran a network cable across the yard and played that way.

Over IPX no less!

Yup. My folks picked up another landline after I started to monopolize the main line playing Doom and Duke Nukem and the like.

Oh, and let's not forget about Descent.

As for LAN parties with computer games - whatever happened to pop / beer and poker parties?

My 3 best friends back home were 9/29 (2 of them) and 9/30. I figured there was some stocking stuffing over the holidays.

I know for a fact my brother was conceived* on 4th of July after my dad got home from working a half-day on the holiday.

*on the couch, no less. (The things moms will tell you in their old age...)

Stewie served a day of in-school suspension yesterday. Last weekend, when he expressed his disappointment, I told him I once had in-school suspension for a week. He smiled. Broadly.

I guess I am his role model???
