Are there really people negative enough to believe that teams like Ottawa, Toronto, and New Jersey are going to block us from a postseason berth?
If teams like the Islanders and Habs are still in the race I'm pretty sure we are fine. It's a long 82 game season, its not going to be a pleasure cruise the whole way, and quite honestly with all of the new faces, rookies, and injuries this team has had to deal with, I am very impressed that the Flyers sit in 4th at the moment.
There are still 4 games to be played against Pittsburgh, and a bunch against teams on the playoff border and around our positioning. This slump sucks but I have no doubt they will turn it around. It could be worse and we could be in Chicago's 1-8-1 slump.
if they don't get stuff figured out, in the final 20-something games that are left they will be helping other teams get into the playoffs
The team is still banged up and still at least one trade away from being the roster we will see in the postseason. I will agree that I am worried that Jagr and Briere have been ghosts on the scoresheets. The injuries and atrocious defense is why the Flyers need to go out and make the defensive moves sooner than later. They have gotten points in 6 of their last 10 games and have received a lot of depth scoring, which is great to see. Its the top forwards and blue line that concerns me but nothing that bringing in some depth to push one of Gus/MAB out of the lineup can't help. The three day rest they just had I'm sure will do wonders for them.
Flyers have more hockey wins that every team but the Rangers and Wings. Not really concerned at all, the lame shootout points won't save teams like New Jersey, Pittsburgh, and Boston in the postseason.
