Can Mr. Lundqivst do it?

Can he break the all-time single season GAA record? He's at 1.77 right now and if he keeps this up....... Hot damn!!

http://www.quanthockey.com/nhl/recor...l-goalies.html

I don't know what you guys consider "modern/recent", but according to this site, which is up-to-date, even with this season included, there are only 7 goalies who have played 50 or more games (including Lundqvist, he's at 42 right now, he'll get there).

Marty Turco - 2002-2003 - 55 GP - 1.72 GAA
Henrik Lundqvist - 2011-2012 - 42 GP - 1.77 GAA
Roman Cechmanek - 2002-2003 - 58 GP - 1.83 GAA
Harry Lumley - 1953-1954 - 59 GP - 1.86 GAA
Jacques Plante - 1955-1956 - 64 GP - 1.86 GAA
Dominik Hasek - 1998-1999 - 64 GP - 1.87 GAA
Fatso - 1996-1997 - 67 GP - 1.88 GAA

In your opinions, based on the year in which they did it, and the games played, which GAA is "the record" for Lundqvist to break?

Hasek rang up a 1.87 in the 90's at some point. Was the year that TT just broke his sv% record of.

I suppose that would be contingent on counting a 38 game season, in which case we might as well give Brian Elliot the Vezina trophy.

All I've got from this thread thus far is that no one seems to know who holds the current record.

Kipper has it, 03-04, if we're talking about more recent times. 1.695.

What is the save % record? Was it set by Thomas last year with a .937 or something? Cause hank might beat that also..

Kipper didnt even play 40 games in the 03-04 season, I don't think he would be considered.

That is career GAA, bud. Not seasonal.

Hank's career is a 2.27, which would be good for 10th on that list.

If the modern record IS the Dominators 1.87 it would be ****ing awesome to see Hank break that.

then it's Marty Turco. 1.723 in 2002-03 55 games played. would that be better? if not then, yeah, it's Dominik Hasek.

Look, if he breaks the record, that's great but between you, me and a lamp-post, carrying the team on his back thru the playoffs is all that matters to him, the team and to us, the fans!

Btw, why is this OT?

Anyway, it would be cool, I'd trade any individual record for a SC

Yeah I was wondering this. Right now, he's at an absurd .941.

If he somehow ended up breaking both the GAA and SV% records, I don't see how you can't give him the Hart.

This save wasn't mentioned to us on MSG, but NESN got it. Hank makes a save without even facing the puck. He's that good.

if that puck woulda hit him on the back plate of his mask, or even his NECK, we would be in alot of trouble right now.

how much padding do NHL goalies have n their back anyways?

Don't know. We're just lucky that Chara decided to wrist it. He winds up for a slapshot, and we're in trouble.

nobody does a slapshot 2 feet in front of the net. That would be retarded. You don't have the time or space to wind up for a slapshot in a battle in front of the net.

Don't know. Looks like Chara had some time there.
Oh well...we can all bask in the glory of the shutout anyway.

regardless, in that situation it's the accuracy of the shot that's the most important, and increasing the speed of it will not really help.
