Ladislav Smid to the Flyers

He can throw down a lot of hits, block shots, and has size at 6'3. Pretty much what the Flyers desperately need.

So, what would it take?

Ladi has been a rock for the Oilers this year.

He's basically the only reason our defense is (borderline) NHL caliber.

He's probably worth quite a bit more to the Oilers than what Philly would want to give up for him.

More than the Flyers (or any team) would be willing to give up. He's been our best and most consistent d-man this year, and moving him creates a huge hole unless a top 4 is coming back, which I don't see happening. Not to mention our defence is already shaky.

Well we could always add a little to Smid and ask for Brayden Schenn. Tambo and Oiler fans (myself included) have long wanted him.

Tambo and Oiler fans (myself included) have long wanted to improve our defense. This does not do that.

Defense will come, mabey getting Brayden allows us to do something around Gagner and Luke.

We need to get NHL d-men, not move them. Smid has been playing great. No need to ship him out, unless you want to move couturier and a 2nd. I don't know why you would, it's just basically we need a massive overpayment to justify it.

I'm not even saying he's worth that on the open market, it's just this team needs d-men. Think about it - our second best guy is probably Gilbert. And third is idk, petry? Whitney has been non-existent till the past month because of injuries.

We basically had this thread before, but with Gilbert. Edmonton needs all their D-men. Flyers would like the have someone like Smid, but Edmonton would never budge. Bad trading partners. End of story.

I don't want any of them. Hell, Barker is just no... just no. Potter and Sutton have re-signed. Whitney has done well I think for your team, but he's not someone the Flyers need. Peckham... I always considered him a forward that plays D.

No interest in a package centreing Gagner.

Would take a huge overpayment. No thanks to Schenn. I can't imagine a deal involving Smid going anywhere that makes sense for two teams. Edmonton needs an equally competent defenseman coming back their way. I don't see the point.
