Chi trades Emery for Khabi? No thanks either. He's not worth his 3.75 cap hit next year. Even with now bad the hawks tending has been

Berniers development has stalled at best. I wouldnt feel any better with a Dubnyk/Bernier tandem next season over Duby/Khaby. Khabibulin is a good mentor

Why is that exactly? He has played well this season. He is the backup to one of the top 5 goalies in the NHL. That doesn't effect Bernier's ability or potential.

Or because his sv% has gone down for the 3rd straight year.

To take on Khabby the Hawks would have to send Crawford the Oilers way

Is this for salary reasons?? Because if not they can wait till offseason to trade him. Need 2 good goalies for a playoff run nowadays.

Longterm cap reasons + to clear way for Salak or young goalie acq via trade to be #1 next year while Khabby slots in as vet #2 in final year in NHL

Kings would balk at taking on Crawford with the prospects they have in pipeline in net (Jones/Zatkoff)

I don't think that LA will want 2.75m in cap tied up in a back up.

LA hangs up.

We need top 6 scoring. And no, Hemsky is not the answer for us, unless we're dumping Penner and nothing more than a mid-round pick.

Your absolutely correct. We dont score goals. Would Hemsky help us? Not much. Who has a sniper but needs a finesse playmaker? Probably the Jackets (Nash & Carter) Powerforwards, Sniper Calgary (Igninla, Glencross, Cammi). Id base a realistic deal around those two teams.

If you have a prospect with a good to great shooting percentage I think we could work out a deal. Otherwise Troll.yalata

The Kings have scored 17 goals in the 607 minutes that Jonathan Bernier has played this year. That's pathetic. That's 1.68 goals per game of offense that he's receiving. I feel for the guy. Take out the Detroit game where he let in five goals (after the defense had already given up - the Wings had scored three in the first eight minutes and then Quick was pulled) and he's had a pretty solid season, especially for a backup. Removing the Detroit game from his totals results in a .919 save percentage and a 2.08 GAA. That one Detroit game skews his numbers quite a bit - but a .900 SV% and a 2.57 GAA doesn't really tell the true tale of his play this season.

He is a former 11th overall pick and one the most highly touted goalie prospects in the league. He has developed well in the Kings' system and is ready to take on a starting role. I can see him landing in Tampa Bay or New Jersey and taking a big step forward in his career. His value is still pretty high.

That TSN link is misleading by the way - that calculated his season totals on a per game basis. His real game by game breakdown is here: http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id...12012&view=log

He's the oldest goalie prospect in the league. A teams offense has nothing to do with a goalies sv%. You want to omit Berniers games where "the defense had already given up" so why not omit the games where the defense bailed his ass out?

Games? One game. Detroit scored three goals in the first eight minutes and proceeded to pound the Kings for the rest of the game. It was a pretty sad sight to see - I watched the whole thing. Mike Richards and Willie Mitchell were injured for that game and this was one of John Stevens' interim head coaching games. Quick had a .571 GAA in just over eight minutes in that game. I'm simply saying that this is the exception, not the norm.

and 1.000 sv% is the exception, not the norm. The fact is that his development is not progressing like a 4th year pro should be, and the Kings are giving him less starts(which could be indicative of overall team play, Quicks play, or staffs lack of confidence)
