I tend to agree. There aren't too many teams that start a season with gaps in their lineup. If you waive him as one of your final cuts in October, the odds of him getting claimed are very slim. To date, he has proven nothing at the NHL level. Every single team, even the bad ones, are going to want to start out of the gate with a lineup consisting either of proven players in defined roles or the young guns that they've seen come up through their own system and earn spots in their own training camps.

I think the Hamill comparison is very apt.

As it stands at the moment, I'd do that annual avatar bet on Palushaj clearing waivers with ease if he was waived in October. Pending any sudden outburst of extreme dominance from him in the AHL down the stretch or any modest production from him in a post-deadline role on the Habs, that is. Or exhibition schedule scoring titles next fall. The current stats line on him isn't going to get him claimed anyway.

And I guess... I sort of have to hope that it comes to that... him going on waivers. Sort of. While still hoping he continues to progress and makes the NHL for us one day. See, I do hope the Habs themselves start out of the gate with a solid group of 13 NHL forwards, and a top-9 that features proven options. I don't know if Palushaj can crack into that. I have doubts. I'd like him to. But I sure wouldn't build my roster in the summer with that expectation. He'd have to show something new and/or get lucky with somebody's injury ahead of him to break into the lineup I'd put together in July.

If we had been buyers this year, I'd have been ready to trade him like Ben Maxwell as an inclusion on a deadline buying deal.

He's close, but is it close enough?

He might get claimed, but don't expect anything at the NHL level.
Very similar yes. I think palushaj is slightly better than maxwell was but they could end up same route very easily.

Hamill isn't even good at the AHL level.

So why did we trade Matt D'agostini for this guy? in 52 games D'agostini has 18 points and is plus 15!

I'm not convinced he won't be a regular yet.. He seemed more comfortable last few call ups, he just needs to figure out what kind of player he wants to be

Palushaj looked better in this call up than any other. Good for him.

He is not NHL ready yet.

When he is, then it time to worry about him. For now, focus on the NHL players.

Palushaj called up again!

@CanadiensMTL:
Aaron Palushaj has been recalled from the Bulldogs and will be available for tomorrow's game against New Jersey.

I'm guessing Cole is injured or something... He looked off yesterday.

With Gill traded and the other injured guys not ready to go they probably needed an extra body around just in case..

Why? I'd rather see Geoffrion. We all know what Palushaj brings to the table...nothing.

No point in rushing up Geoffrion. He was having a poor season in AHL so let's see if he can get it going with the dogs before a call-up is in order.

Besides, Palushaj actually did ok his last time around.

Hoping we did not lose another soldier (especially not one that we want to trade in the coming days

This thread should be a stickied.

Also good for him. I probably like Palushaj more than most. He has some potential as a offensive third line-soft minutes kind of guy.

He was mostly invisible when used on a fourth line but that's because that's not his game at all. For example Blunden "looked better" but I'm pretty sure Palushaj is a better hockey player than him.

Gotta love how people are already writing the guy off. PATIENCE! Sheesh. He's played well in the AHL, I'm willing to give him more time. He's better than last year, that's for sure.

LOL palushaj? Not again!

How about Conboy (6'4) or Avstin (6'3)? Can they be called-up? We should try these 2 big guys for at least 2-3 games.

Oh, and Blake Geoffrion. Seems like the guy is on a mission.

First game with Dogs, he had 1 goal, 1 assist, 8 shots, and a +1

If he keeps it up for 3-4 games, I could see him in a habs jersey.
