What are your music plans? Big shows, small shows, big American festivals, small local festivals. Let us know.
A bit of self promotion but the open mic at the Lafayette sports some truly great local artists and is free: Tuesday nights at around 9:30 start.
When I get back from Australia in a few months I will get back to it. If you're looking some good old ragtime fingerpicking blues, I should be able to please.

My girlfriend and I usually head down to the States once or twice a year for a few concerts. Last year we went to Burlington (OAR) and Boston (Fountains of Wayne), and the year before we caught a concert at Woodstock (OAR again) on the way down to NYC. This summer we're taking the train to California and we're going to plan around the touring schedules of as many bands as we can. Hopefully tour dates will start getting released soon so we can get planning.
Obligatory Bonnaroo mention. Not even remotely Ottawa area, obviously, but I'm considering hitting it up. Radiohead, RHCP, The Beach Boys, Bon Iver, Aziz Ansari the comedian/actor, Skrillex, Alice Cooper, Flogging Molly, Childish Gambino, City and Colour, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jr... great lineup.

I DON'T WANT TO TAKE FOR EXAMPLE THE LA SPARKS
My wife and I are heading to Australia to attend the Byron Bay Bluesfest. We went last year, and it's a great festival. It takes place every year over Easter.
We'll probably also head to the Newport, RI Folk Festival at the end of July. I've heard a lot of great things about it.
As for locally, don't forget the Ottawa Folkfest, which will take place Sept. 6 to 9.

I had a few friends who went to Bonnaroo last year and had a blast. I was hoping to go on a trip this year to Coachella but alas, its not gonna happen. Hopefully next year.
For all EDM fans, there is Escapade Festival on June 30th and July 1st. More than 16 Producer/DJ's from all over the world. Some big names are expected.

Very cool on two counts. I wish I'd done what you're doing this summer when I was younger and Fountains of Wayne are among the bands I've never gotten to see that I've always wanted to. I had tix to a festival in PEI about 6-7 years ago but the show was cancelled the night before.
I've heard Beirut, Black Keys and Death Cab. The latter two re-booked after last years horrible circumstances...and so many disappointed fans. Positive PR and shows that the organizers care!!!!
maiden is skipping ottawa, but for those interested
8th July - Quebec, QC - Colisee Pepsi Arena

All I know for now is that I'll attend Bluesfest for one day using my day pass from last year. Still sucks that I missed a very rare chance to see Satriani in Ottawa

Good. That setlist two years ago was awful...they sounded great though.
