There is so much fail in this statement.

One quality I can't stand in a GM is impatience. That is where most of my criticism of Homer stems from in the past. I'm a believer that being first to market isn't always a good thing.

If we win in the playoffs, I fully expect you to slam dung all over your fairweather face...

wasn't that the criticism of clarke ? sooner or later you have to see who is giving the gm orders.

Perhaps. Honestly, I only became CBA obsessed after the lockout because salary caps fascinate me.

That said, it honestly didn't matter for Clarke because he could spend as much money as he wanted and it had no ramifications. Homer is operating in an ENTIRELY different world.

True, but that doesn't explain the short leash for so many young players we had. Or if a guy had a bad season it meant trade him , if he got injured trade him, if he didn't get along with clarke trade him. Maybe that is more of an NHL problem but the flyers were the extreme version of that.

Yea. I don't doubt Snider has a hand in things from time to time. I made that post earlier this week from my friend who, at the game, saw and heard Snider call Homer and tell him to get him a defenseman.

However, I think the lack of a cap also took that stuff to an extreme because it allowed for it. If something wasn't working, you could just get rid of it, and buy something else. It's just money. A luxury the Flyers have.

I think the cap era brings about a new kind of impatience. An eagerness to get that "bargain" before the price goes up. It doesn't always work that way, however.

So, supposedly Kubina has submitted a list, and Philly is one of the teams he'd be willing to waive for. (saw that on the main board). Not sure if that's a reliable source, but hopefully Holmgren can pick him up for a 3rd/prospect or for a 2nd. When was the last time that this team had a decent right handed d-man? Plus, he's big, and won't get knocked around in front of our net. Probably knows Jagr/Voracek too. Stanley Cup ring never hurts, either.

Timonen Coburn
Carle Kubina
Meszaros Gustaffson/Bourdon

Perhaps even make a smaller deal for a veteran forward, or another veteran d-man for the playoffs?

Well our chances aren't great unless we grab the sixth seed and face Florida. I think any realist can see that. And homer stinks, a lot of people would agree there too.

Not watching the games though, that's a little too far on the fairweather side like other people have said.

Were? A lot of what you just said sounds like just last summer.

Scouts from various NHL teams at tonight's Sabres-Flyers' game:
  • Columbus
  • Washington
  • Colorado
  • Ottawa
  • Montreal
  • San Jose

Craig Patrick (senior advisor) is one of the Blue Jackets' scouts.
The Blue Jackets' GM was at the Saturday home game.

Hopefully they take Carle back That would be awesome for us.

We also have to remember if the Flyers take on that contract, it would almost eliminate any chance of Suter in the off season unless we trade Mez or Coburn (Don't think Kimmo is going anywhere, also Coburn with the new extension, but anything is possible)

oh **** !!!

hopefully Carle plays like a superstar tonite, and NOt his usual brain-fart self..

dont want scouting seeing him play like a R-tard.. we'll never get rid of him.

come on Carle for once in your life play like a NHL defense man. so we can be rid of you.

Also two scouts from San Jose! I would love for us to get Douglas Murray. Maybe Homer is gonna tear this defense down before we make a push for the cup

Little bit of an overexaggeration, don't you think? If you think Carle will be easily replaced during the offseason, think again. The Flyers will be paying out of their ass for a guy that can put up his point totals and play 22+ minutes a night. Another case of the 'grass is greener on the other side.' It's just that every single one of his mistakes is put under the microscope.

This is very true. I think people will like Carle more when they see that the person who he is eventually replaced by isn't going to be Drew Doughty.

People don't appreciate Carle's skill set because it aligns so closely with the team's strengths and weaknesses. He's good at what we already do well enough and his weaknesses are what we're worst at, so we grow frustrated with him easily. He isn't given the credit he's due for what he brings to the table IMO. That said I could see him moving for someone that fits our present needs more, especially now that Pronger's no longer reliably available to play with Carle.

While Tyutin probably costs us just over a 1st if he's available, Carey Price DEFINITELY costs us Couturier, Schenn, or vanRiemsdyk; a "price" I'm not willing to pay.

Didn't we already make the mistake of paying for a goalie when I told everyone that it's better to not pay enormous sums whether in assets or cap? Why are we playing this game again? Enough with the goalie drama. Sit and watch and hope and be pissed about its current state. That's all we can do now.
