Grossman is one of them stay at home types that WILL clean out the middle........and that is MUCH needed here.Sometimes we run into BIG problems being in such a hurry to transition up ice from D to offense we get in trouble....Grossman stays home and tends to his defensive duties a little more....A modern Eddie Van Impe type in quite a few ways but bigger.....I like it !

Good move. He's what this team needs. Plus he has over 100 blocked shots which will help.

This deal is excellent. Acquiring the position and type of blue liner we needed while trading other teams draft picks.

Grossman is cheap cap wise, cost us little, will give Kimmo rest on special teams, blocks shots, and can clear the crease. This is exactly the type of move we needed to kick MAB/Gus out of the lineup. People might be disappointed because he isn't a "big name" but this is the type of skill set we needed to help our defense. I'm assuming he will play Saturday against Pitt.

Question is will it be him or Mez on the 3rd line?

That being said, with Meszaros being hurt (we have no idea how bad) wouldnt be surprised this trade was also a reason for it.
Bob Mackenzie said this is going to be anything but a deep draft. Nobody knows at this point, of course, however. I think when you hear "deep draft this year," the people are referring to the top talent.

Backlund still counts, I think. Noebels' contract slides for this season however. We waived/gauged interest in Nödl earlier in the season to get down to 49 contract so we could make a trade such as this.

The price is a bit higher than I would have hoped for to get a guy like Grossman, but if he works out for us we've gotten ourselves a nice physical stay-at-home dman that could perhaps be re-signed for a reasonable price.

Wow, did we REALLY need to include a 2nd? Does Homer need to use the second round of the draft as a bathroom break every year? Is it when he steps out to get dinner? Is a favorite TV show on?

2nd and 3rd for a third pairing rental? That is kind of pricey eh? What is Grossman like I honestly dont know a thing about him.

Oiler fan chiming in, but I thought you guys did pretty well.

Grossman is a top-4 guy who can play on the PK and at ES. Blocks shots, fairly physical, and good defensively.

Picks are nice when they work out, but 2nd and 3rd rounds don't typically work out. Good trade for you guys. Good luck rest of the way!

It's a sellers market. I bet dallas could of received more than that if they had held on

Does anyone think they will try to resign him? I do, he can be our cheap stay at home guy and target Suter in the off season.

Its a good deal. He's a physical stay at home defenseman that will block shots. Also will help on the PK too

You know that Florida pick will either be traded this season also OR held off till next season and traded at the next deadline.

It is funny how he dislikes 2nd round picks that much.

Hard to hit on a second Rounder when your sample size is so low

Haha... as I was reading the first part of this post Eddie came to mind, If he does a fraction of the job Van Imp did I'll be one happy camper.

I am excited to see him play. Should be a huge help on our backend which has been hurting badly with the injury to Pronger.

Value wise I think it works if he resigns here in the offseason or if he helps turn things around defensively for this club.

So...what are the chances that Homer re-signs him for 4.3 million?

Ahh John Boruk made a good tweet. The Richards trade is done.

Traded Mike Richards for Schenn, Simmonds and Grossman.

By the sound of Dave Brown's description, he fits our needs. I just hope he punishes people on D, we have no one that can do that.
