Top 6 Forward

After the grossman trade homer may or may not decide to add another dman, but if I had to guess he will be looking to add another top 6 forward incase JVR does not come around in time. It wont be a big splash like Nash, but there are still some quality players out there that could be had.

Any thoughts?

Hartnell-Giroux-Jagr
Simmonds-Brière-Schenn
Read-Couturier-Voracek
Talbot

While a guy like Ruutu would be a nice addition (if the Canes end up trading him after all, and we can fit his salary under the cap), I wouldn't focus too much on adding offense to this team, even if JvR is unable to return. Maybe a 4th line center/pk specialist though?

If anything I would prefer another defenseman to anchor that bottom pairing but if not I wouldn't mind a defense first forward to help Talbot and Giroux keep there PK time down come postseason.

The only type of forwards the flyers have are top 6 forwards.

I understand that we have a plethora of forwards, but we still need to add a dman and possibly another forward to be able to compete with the B's and Rags...

Interesting to hear Holmgren say "I wouldn't use the word 'unlikely' " when asked about "acquiring a star forward."
interesting quote by Homer. Of course take it with a grain of salt

He definately is not done, Imo with the uncertainty of Jagr health/durability to make it to the playoffs and beyond, and JVR concussion issues I would not be surprised to see them add a decent forward.

There is no chance that we are going after a forward.

If they're going to get another forward, I'd rather it be a guy like Talbot. Somebody whos focus is on the defensive end.

I wouldn't mind seeing Moen on the 4th line.

At least he can play while adding size and physicality unlike the two big plugs we have now.

Never thought of Gaustad but that is a very good idea.. you can put talbot to the wing full time with gaustad down the middle... Plus I remember in the playoff series last year he was quite a handful for us, and his line was easily the hardest to play against.

His size would be welcome as well.

That would be a nasty lineup.

Mike Knuble has been a healthy scratch lately in washington, solid veteran, adds to the power play, wont cost much to get.

I've always like Gaustad too. He's really strong and would help in many ways. Has a pretty good cap hit at $2.3M. If we went after him, we wouldn't have much room for another D, but some. Capgeek says we have $2.7M now.

With Grossman in the fold, Bourdon or Gus will have to go down.

Not sure how well Knubs fits in anymore...No Forsberg/Richards and Gagne left, all of our lines have speed, whereas Knuble has none...and we have Hartnell and Simmonds to man the front of the net. Knuble would be a 4th liner here if he even dressed unfortunately

Eh. He's 40, and he isn't playing for good reason.
