yeah, you know a team is going bad when a 33 year old player putting up point per game numbers would rather retire than play...not sure what his injury is, or if its even real.

I dont know what his shoulders doing, but he got lit up the other night by Darcy Hordichuk of Nashville. I think he left the game...

Happy retirement Ziggy. With Eric C. playing for the Pens, is NY going to add muscle also, or will we hear the play Orr mantra.

Yeah, can't wait for the incesant droning about how we will get "checked out of the building again."

Anyone remember when Bettman vetoed the trade that would have sent Palffy to NYR from the island for whoever and something like 40 Isles games on MSG? Could've had Ziggy in his prime.

Why was that trade vetoed?

IIRC the trade may have had Todd Harvey and some one like Pilon going to the Isles for Palffy. The Blueshirts were also throwing in a lot of cash and they were going to air a bunch of Isles games on MSG. Bettman didn't like how the cable channels were getting involved and apparently shot it down to set the precedent. Of course I just use it as another reason to prove that Bettman hates that Rangers.

You think a player would retire just 'cause his team sucks?

It would've been Harvey, "Nicky" (as Gary Thorne would say) Sundstrum, Patrick Leahy, and a pick for Palffy and Pilon. Of course, we would get Pilon months later.
