I'm having a hard enough time with the thought of losing Duby, who if would find some consistent
offense would solve a lot of issues.

Rather build a package around AA if anything.

I highly doubt they blow it here, I think all of this will amount to nothing.
We've been saying this for how long now?

I wouldn't be livid if we traded Kreider. We know what we have in MDZ. Kreider is nothing but potential at this point.

Were you saying the same thing about Del Zotto a year ago?

We trade Kreider and two years later you'll be saying "boy I wish we didn't trade Kreider".

I've been rather quiet on this whole situation up until this point but I need to say my piece.

If any of you think that Sather will deal one of our two best defensemen in McDonagh or MDZ, one our best young centers in Stepan our any of the pieces we deem untouchable for Rick Nash or any player then that's simply ludicrous.

Sather has shown more restraint recently. He's not as bad at being a reactionary GM. He's not going to pull the trigger unless he feels he's got the best deal imaginable.

Yes, let's trade our absolute best prospect who has legit first-line upside because he hasn't proven anything yet. What a great way to build long-term success. Let's get rid of our best prospect and a bunch of other assets to bring in a $7.8 million cap hit, 60-point player for this season and the next six.

First and foremost, Rick Nash is a 70 point player if you ignore his rookie season.

Secondly, only 1 New York Rangers is on pace to eclipse the 70 pt mark this season, Marian Gaborik (on pace to score 72 points, makes 7.5 mil a year).

Thirdly Nash does it basically single handedly for the bulk of his career.

If you hate on Nash, then I'd expect to hear some hate on Gaborik.

No because Del Zotto is something we have so sorely lacked for such a long time.

And as for the bolded part, do you want to give me this weekends powerball numbers while your at it?

Yeah thats it! We must keep Kreider because he has legit 1st line upside instead of acquiring a player who is already a 1st liner on a god awful team! Makes tons of sense dude!

Im not for acquiring Rick Nash. However, I believe the notion of not trading Kreider to acquire a 1st line talent who is capable of putting up 35-40+ goals and is at least a 70 point player who has been stuck on a god awful team since he was drafted is absolutely asinine.

I would rather have Carter when you consider contracts.

I'm not for trading Kreider for Nash but... on HFBoards, a prospect with potential to become a first line player is apparently better than an actual first line player.

We didn't have to trade for Gaborik. You are comparing apples to oranges. We almost traded for Heatley and I guess that would be a better comparison.

I would too. Cheaper asset wise, and cap wise but unfortunately AFAIK no reports indicate us being interested in Carter, only Nash.

If we can't get Nash while holding onto our core, sans Dubinsky, and Kreider this team will be stacked in 2 years when he's fully developed.

doesnt matter. if youre going to criticize a 70 pt player, then you should criticize all 70 pt players making 7+ mil a season.

Really? You wouldn't move him for Giroux, a Sedin, Tavares, Stamkos, Loui Erikson, Corey Perry, Hall, Seguin, Datsyuk, Columbus's first round pick?
Let's not get carried away with Kreider here.

i just dont know how you make this work.

The only reason why i think sather is considering Nash is because he (sather) is not getting any younger, how many more chances is he going to have to see his team win another stanley cup.

I'm most comfortable with dealing Staal for Nash because that way less assets would have to go the other way. Staal is a legitimate first pairing dman and has that value.

Like I'd way rather add another dman at the deadline and trade:

Staal+Dubinsky
Instead of:
Dubinsky+MDZ+Kreider+1st

Personally though, I'd rather wait and just sign Parise.

lol if Gabby is bad at 7mm what is Gomez.
I like Gaborik's contract. He may be $1mm overpaid but its of reasonable length and you usually end up paying a premium in free agency.
