Well, JJ is the equivalent of DZ imo. So no, I'm not interested in besting that.

Find me a recent example, since the lockout, of any team doing this. There aren't many, I assure you, and that small list doesn't include the Rangers.
Lauri Korpikoski.

Pretty sure they already said they wouldn't trade Johnson to Columbus because he wouldn't be happy there. Saw a tweet about it yesterday.

This is what I was driving at last night... LA is more desperate for offense than the Rangers and they may be willing to part with pieces that Columbus needs. If it's a puckmoving defenseman and a goaltender that Columbus wants, they aren't getting it from us.

Out of our roster players, I'm positive that we'd only trade Anisimov and/or Dubinsky. Everyone else stays put.

The Kings know they have both Hickey and Voynov ready or very close to ready for the NHL. They can move Johnson (Even though he doesn't want to be there either) and replace him from within.

Does Johnson have a NTC?

Yeah that was the talk on SiriusXM this morning.

That's steep. And we can't beat it because of the young goaltender.

Just a few weeks ago he was on a radio station saying how the Devils arena is always so quiet and he loves playing in loud arenas like MSG. Lol.

I don't think ANYONE wants to play Columbus. At this point, the team is just a destination to end your career or do well individually for a contract with a team you actually want to be on.

Ya, or they could just trade Bernier+ for Carter and keep there D stockpile. Which is what I'd do but DL isn't always the most logical thinker. He's also gun shy when it comes to big trades and rarely gets his man.

Don't think so, which is why it was a weird quote. As if DL was just trying to do JJ a favor.

Korpikoski had already been through 2 training camps with the Rangers and had played 2 seasons in Hartford. And he played exactly 1 game in the playoffs. It in no way affected his ELC.

Kreider has never played professionally (unless you count the WC...the NCAA doesn't). He has never attended an NHL training camp. And playing even 1 game would burn a year off his ELC. Completely different situation.

Also, if Kreider is to be eligible for the playoffs, he would have to sign soon, by the trade deadline, I think. That isn't happening. The NCAA tournament begins March 23rd and BC will be in it. The frozen four is April 5th and 7th. The NHL season ends on April 7th.

Like I said, no chance.

Yeah, is an NHL team really going to worry about what a player they are dealing might think about what team they are traded to? The goal of a GM is to win a cup...and if DL thinks trading JJ for RN is going to help achieve that who cares what JJ thinks?

Thought this too, turns out he can sign whenever and play during the playoffs...

I know. But Lombardi is an odd duck that's why I didn't totally discredit it. Makes no sense to me but in Dean's world who know?

No. There is no difference.

NHL debut in payoffs. That's it.

And Kreider >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Korpikoski.

If the deal is so obvious for LA why isn't it done already?

Because there's still 2 weeks to the deadline. They don't have to rush it.

Thanks, wasn't sure about that. Couldn't find anything specific in the CBA.

LA are clinging to a playoff spot though and waiting does risk injuries.

So the fact that Korp was playing professionally in Harford for 2 years before he played for the Rangers makes no difference? They fact that playing had no affect on his ELC makes no difference?

Kreider will not play for the Rangers this year. Believe whatever little fantasy you want to believe, but it won't happen.

I don't think the obvious deal is as obvious as it seems. I think what Howson has run into is two teams LA, and NY that will gladly take Nash but on their terms not Howson's. So now Howson is trying to decide if he should wait to move Nash, he probably should. But I think he got himself a little too excited and will pull off an underwhelming trade.
