@JC93 Apparently they need a top 6 forward. I'd trade Kostitsyn but I'd want Blum coming back.

People on the Habs fan page (Facebook) are becoming really annoying with the fact of Quebec players.

I like the trade but come on...Grossman got a 2nd and 3rd so it's not like he got something unheard of. If Blake Geoffrion busts then it's Gill for a 2nd. Pretty much what people expected. You make it sound like this shows how he deserves to be the GM of the Habs.

Gauthier

Well done sir, well done.

2nd+prospect for gill (I consider slaney vs condt' 5th a wash) is a great return.

I imagine he's been shopping for a while, so hopefully this is the best deal out there... Hard to imagine gill was worth more to anyone else.

Well done sir, well done

It seems like Geoffrion becomes waiver eligible once he plays 16 more games, this applies to next season as well. Unless I am reading the capgeek waiver calculator wrong.

So we should wait until there are fewer than 16 games left before calling him up this season.

Anybody knows what is the condition on the conditional 5th? Is it the resigning of Gill in Nashville?

Why call him up at all? Kid needs more seasoning apparently.

Great trade! Geoffrion who I thought, at the time, HAD to be a Habs. Though his progression isn't what I thought it would. And a 2nd pick in this draft.

Good job PG. I don't like you. Still want you out.....but that's a very good trade.

Finally the tank in full effect.....watch the PK being awful now.

Im glad if Geoffrion left he went to Montreal.

Anyways I thought I would give a bit of a scouting report. Geoffrion is physical and will drop the gloves. He plays with a lot of heart. His two way game is a little overrated as I would never have Geoffrion against a top line, but he is fairly good on his assignments. His hands are atrocious, even during his hattrick I think he shot maybe one puck, the others were weird accidental deflections. Overall I think he is better than just an AHLer but I do think he won't amount to much more than a 4th liner who can take a regular shift (see Jerred Smithson).

The condition is Geoffrion playing 40+ games with the Habs next season

I think we got Geoffrion to replace Moen as the 3rd/4th line LW. His stats are underwhelming so far, I wish he'll pick it up. We would need it because our prospect pool at LW isn't exactly great.

Montreal sends Nashville the 5th round pick only if Geoffrion plays more than 40 games in the NHL next season.

Hard to complain about this deal. That's pretty decent return for Skillzie. I still want PG gone next year, but I don't have a problem with having him oversee the trade deadline, especially not if he can get this kind of value for Moen too. God, imagine what Cole might bring.

The key is for people to don't expect the world from the kid .. we got a 2nd + two prospects from Gill ..

I am confident Boomer will play in the NHL next season, be it as a 3rd or 4th line forward, he has size, he is smart, he can hit ...

But just the fact that he is our organization is awesome. I am so excited, he should have been here all along.

Good on Gauthier, I know those that looks at stats and his play when he's against their team will say he's a solid stay-at-home guy will laud this deal for the Preds in the playoffs, but you guys snagged a 2nd in a strong draft year. Personally, I hated watching Gill give the puck away constantly for the Leafs, so I know how it is to watch him on the reg.

I figured Gill's value at the deadline is a 2nd+. That's what Montreal got. Competent but not outstanding move for MTL.

I think Geoffrion's PR value might be bigger than his value as a player but we'll see.

See, he was a gimme for me in his draft year. Yet, to a certain degree, it's not that bad that we're getting him now. I liked him in his draft and thought the world of him. Now, expectations have gotten a little lower and so should everybody's expectations be. But that would not have been the case if we would have drafted him.

If Blake turns in to a 4th liner with a lot of heart and toughness, as he has been described, that will be absolutely perfect with me.
