To put into perspective, Trotz had the choice of Geoffrion, Wilson or Dumont on most nights, and he chose Geoffrion more often than not. From what I saw, he made it practically impossible for Trotz to take him out of the lineup because of the energy he brought on the 4th line. That's saying a lot, I think.
Same here. I was really impressed with his play last season. I don't know why people are counting him out. I think he'll end up being 3rd liner which is perfect for Gill. The guy has just started his pro-career and people are already counting him out.(Not habs fans, but Nashville fans).

Decent trade, but "awesome"? No.
This is true, but I think the habs were going for the change of scenery angle, I was reading on twitter that his dad didn't seem to happy with nashville, saying they never gave his son a fair shot, they made him into a 4th liner and then expected him to score getting 4th line min

Boom Emelin doesn't sound catchy at all. Then again is Blake even deserving of the "boom boom" title? I don't think there will be an other tbh. Let's see if he can stick with the team first.

Honestly I dont care about the prospects we got. I feel just getting a 2nd rounder for Gill is outstanding.

Blake already has a knickname FYI .. in Nashville, both AHL and NHL his team mates called him "Boomer"

He doesn't play with that much of an edge.

Why is Geoffrion going to Hamilton? Are we playing with 7 D again?

Change of scenery and fresh start could turn out to be huge for him here.

Goeffrion needs a bit of time at AHL level still. Like MaxPax needed some time last season.

I guess they gonna play 7 d-men "again"... But they are still a man short. Is Palusaj back again ?

he played on a very good team that year though, the funny thing about him winning the hobey is that he was 4th on his team in scoring as Derek Stepan, Brendan Smith (wings D prospect) and Michael Davies all had more points then Geoffrion. That team also had Jake Gardiner, McDongah, Craig Smith (what a year he's having with Nashville), Justin Schultz (ripping up the NCAA this year) among other NHL draft picks.

Geoffrion is not a bust. Even if he ends up being a 3rd line player, which is what is likely to happen, he still provides us with talent, speed and size on our team.

With guys like White, Geoffrion and Leblanc we have some versatile younger players who play the game with intensity.

Then after the deadline play the heck out of Diaz, Emelin and Weber.
Full tank mode on.

But yes, I agree with you. Play them till we bleed. We're not going to do what Anaheim is trying to accomplish and reach that 8th spot in the East.

Also important to note about Blake is that he often scores more goals than assists. Judging by his scouting report, that means he gets a lot of greasy goals in front of the net. Perfect for a 3rd line player.

I was surprised when he won it since Smith lit it up as on defense and Stepan led the team in scoring with 54 points, but Geoffrion was among the top goal scorers that year I believe.

Highway robbery (more like plane hijacking) of a trade. Geoffrion is a young dude with size (listed at 6'2'' on some websites) who can contribute right away on the 3rd line. Hopefully, that means no more Weber/Campoli on the offense. Add to that a 2nd rounder, and you have the definition of a sweet deal. Won't miss Gill one bit.
