April 14 update: Tom Sestito skating (groin surgery, Feb. 21)

INJURY UPDATE: #Flyers Tom Sestito will have surgery to repair torn groin muscle on Tue., Feb. 21. He will be out for 6-8 weeks.

That would explain why he needed help walking down the tunnel.

At this rate Boucher's old Slurpee machine will have to start taking shifts.

Holmgren is getting to the point of asking for volunteers in the crowd to play 4th-line minutes.

Will he get paid if he stays "up" with the Flyers but is placed on the IR? If so, he'll at least earn some money. With JvR, Jagr and the likes returning to play, he might have been sent down soon otherwise. We have 11 forwards that are lock for playing when healthy (Jagr, Giroux, JvR, Couturier, Schenn, Read, Brière, Hartnell, Voracek, Simmonds, Talbot), and Shelley would most likely remain the 13th forward, leaving only one spot open for Wellwood, Rinaldo, Zolnierczyk and Sestito to fight over. If it were up to me, that spot wouldn't go to Sestito. I like Rinaldo's edge and hitting better, and Wellwood brings a better offensive and defensive game. Sestito adds size though.

When is he going under the knife? Or did they operate on him today? 6 to 8 is a bad one. Good luck Tom. Hows it hanging bud?

I know you need guys like him when the Sabres have Kassian and Kaleta in the lineup - but what the hell is Shelley doing - can't he even get beat up and get somebody off the ice for 5 minutes??? For 1+million dollars he can't even win a damn fight???? All he ever did was knock out Orr once and he wasn't even a Flyer then...

I hope Sestito gets back soon, plays well and fights less. For his size he's pretty average. I'd rather have a guy like Wellwood in the lineup late in the season and have him in for the playoffs anyway.

Sestito has heart but the boy cannot win a fight or stay injury free. I really like the way Wellwood plays the game. Very smart in his own end. He looks like he belongs up with the big club. I would rather see him than Harry Z. Harry's defence is suspect to say the least.

I like the way Sestito hits and skates, he'd be valuable in a hard hitting playoff series, if he's healthy.

Wellwood is a good skater/checker, but I have a feeling his latest recall was a showcase.

I agree. Luckily, groin should have less impact overall on Sestito than it would on a goaltender, or a skater expected to log 15 minutes a night.

Garrett Klotz anyone?

JK I know he's on an AHL only contract, but if we really wanted a goon for that game we could pull a David Sloan/Jamie Fritsche with him.

Damn Pens got lucky. With they're injury troubles I'm sure they'd be scared ****less to face both Rinaldo and Sestito.
