Putting on the silver lining hat....

Perhaps this game will burn into the team's collective consciousness about doing ALL the little things to win a game. If so, it would serve us well for the stretch run and the playoffs.

Also, perhaps David Poile's notes for the game said:

"4 freaking breakways, are you kidding me? Note to self: acquire forward who can finish."

Didn't get to see the game as I was working with the CBS crew for the Miami game today, but if this loss forces Poile to realize we need a top 3 or 6 I am all for it.

They were at the end of a minute and a half long shift where they were in their end most of the time.

David Poile's actual notes for the game said:
"Crap, I just traded for a D-man and I STILL need at least one more for the top pairing."

We got another glimpse of the Predators black eye. You have 3 all alone breakaways and several breakaways with the man advantage and cannot convert. I am so sick of seeing them come in no one wants to shoot so they jack around and ruin a chance at a good shot at the least.

Suter has not been the same since the all star break and he got destroyed by an elite player. Not sure Suter is as Elite as he thinks he is. I sure havent seen it since his im not signing crap.

Lastly i see a lot of Smithson blaming but if you follow the play to the root you would see that Nashville had possession of the puck and was breaking out when KEVIN ****ING KLEIN tried to make a dumb pass up the middle to a covered player which resulted in the icing that brought the puck into the Nashville zone in the first place for the game ending debacle.

Did Ryan Ellis play tonight?

If so, how has he been doing?

He's making a very good case for himself to play over Bouillon for the final #6 spot when Gill starts playing.

Interesting time on ice stats tonight for dmen:
Weber/Suter played their usual 25 min, but
Klein - 15:36
Josi - 14:55
Bouillon - 16:55
Ellis - 14:54

Klein's lowest TOI all season. Probably due to us only having 1 PK, but it's still odd.

I wouldn't be surprised if that goes down even more with Gill around now. I could see sitting Bouillon and putting Gill with Josi and Ellis with Klein

So I watched the highlights...I'm happy we seemed to have played well and got our chances. We just didn't bury anything when we should have. I'm surprised nobody noticed that MacDonald was moving to the glove side on almost every shot. Shoot for his stick side and he'd move out of the way for you. Especially on the breakaway chances you'd just have to deke glove side and then move stick and he'd be down and out. Seriously, just watch..there was only 1 stick-side save he made that was more of a straight on slapshot he popped with his stick

I think we're all missing the bigger question here: Would Hal Gill's big frame and long stick have kept Datsyuk from making the GWG? I think so.

Well, if that wasn't the case I would certainly hope he'd take the body like you're supposed to in that situation. Suter got caught and Weber should've known to come help. There was 5 seconds left. Double up on Dats on the break into the zone there. He had no help and Weber was just standing there watching...both were to blame in that situation.

Suter looked straight stupid on that last play. If he would have stood his ground he would have been fine. Datsyuk didn't make a crazy move Suter panicked because he saw #13 bearing down on him and guessed and boy did he guess wrong.

I still do not understand why Suter is scared to take the body. It seems like he is always playing positional only. I'm not saying it doesn't work, cuz he is great defensively. But if only he had chose to play the body, we would've had atleast 1 point.

Been a long time problem with the Preds. Still the reason why so many 2 on 2 breaks end up with decent shots on net. Because nobody wants to just take the body and take them out of the play.

Well I guess we know how it feels now. We did this at least 4 times this season, finishing 3 in regulation (Van., Wash., Clb) and 1 in OT (Clb).

Only 4 shots in the 3rd period. Really? Stop trying to make the damn fancy pass and put it on goal!

Erat comes down, has SK trailing but is surrounded by 2 or 3 Det. players, so OF COURSE pass back to him.

So you want more offense Suter? How about you and Weber step up and start playing some damn defense.

4 breakaways and we can't score even ONE. Terrible.

Great job by Tootoo/Spaling on the goal. That was sweet!

Yeah I guess the game itself, overall, was encouraging. But it's so frustrating that we just could. not. finish.

Also, I blame this loss on Ch.2. They had a story Thursday of the Spaling record.

Don't understand the logic on blaming the d-man. The play was set up perfectly by Zetterberg's pass and Datsyuk didn't hesitate to move towards the goalie.

Its very simple you cut off the little ****er that had the puck and knock him out of his skates instead of skating backwards like this team has a bad habit of doing. It's how most teams score un us. Skate in we let them and take a wrist shot at Peks arms, Goal!
