If some of the big market teams load up this year with salaries won't the new CBA have to take that into account? I can't see the league punishing the big market teams who produce the money that goes into the revenue sharing. It is probably a good time to take on a big contract because the rules are going to be negotiated again.

If people haven't seen this before:
This organization is not trading Tim Erixon.
Not because he would be deemed untouchable, but because of the stunt he pulled to get here.

The league appears to only be concerned with the small market teams and making sure they can compete with the big markets and keeping them afloat.

They don't care about satisfying big market teams.

I would agree. Also that Ryan trade above is way too much

Dubinsky, Wolski, Thomas, McIlrath for Nash.......thats a first , 2nd rounder value........WW is a dump and Dubi is the key Forward

I am sure CLB would want another first back too. No Kreider

I disagree. The cap floor keeps the small markets honest despite the big markets pumping money into them. If the league was all about the small markets only then they would let them have minuscule payrolls filled with ELCs.

You don't think teams like the Leafs, Wings and Rangers have a voice?

This whole small market-big market thing is just plain stupid. We've seen small market teams, such as Tampa, Carolina, Anaheim win. Meanwhile, the biggest market hasn't won since 1967. So, if the small market owners create a homegrown core, (on the cheap) and produce a winning product on the ice, the market won't be considered small anymore. Look at Tampa:
2000-01: 15K seats sold.
02-03: 16.5K seats sold
Cup year:17.8K seats sold. This is only the regular season, so they also made quite a lot of money on playoff tickets.
2005-2006: Season after they win the Cup: 20K tickets!
So these small market teams can stop complaining. Grow your lottery picks the right way.

I'm not sure have the Rangers really made Kreider available.

Is so, I'm hoping that they're shopping around to see what they can get for him. And not just settling for Nash.

They have just simply not witnessed what life is like when you empty the cup board. When there is not a rookie that steps in and fits in and does not force you to go to the waiver wire. Father forgive them......they know not what they do......

IMO, had the Rangers been willing to move Kreider, we would've seen a deal for a major offensive player (Ryan, Carter, Nash, someone we're not considering) long before now...

Considering Nash's cap hit, there's no way he'll get the kind of return fans are talking about here. He has an overpaid UFA salary, except an overpaid UFA comes for free, whereas here we are supposed to give up an arm and a leg to acquire Nash. No way, not unless Columbus finds a sucker GM.

#NYR Only fair to point out, however, that Springfield is CBJ's AHL affiliate.

Scott Howson is joining Patrick in Philly afternoon. JVR is returning today from his concussion. Pitt@Philly 1pm.

Why are the Flyers after Nash? By all means, add another subpar defensive forward instead of a much needed defenseman.

ILL TAKE HIM AND PAY THE 7+ million. 27 years old and a premier talent. doesnt come around often. we have so much depth in the system it would kill us, krieder is a prospect. Nash is a proven NHL premier scorer.

Nash to Philly would be horrible for NYR. Nash and Giroux would be a scary duo.

yeah....that doesnt make much sense to me...they already have the #1 offense in the nhl (goals per game)....why would you add Nash to that? Their D/goaltending is ranked 22nd.

Thats just idiotic GMing.

They gave Bryzgalov 9 years...that speaks volumes about what's going on in Philly. I think the Rangers are in their heads.

Giroux, Hartnell and Jagr are already a scary trio. Briere, JVR, Simmonds...theyve got a ton of talent up front. Nash wouldnt really effect them all that much imho. They already are scoring a ton of goals...adding him to a team would probably have more of a parasitic effect that anything...ie he would just be scoring goals someone else would.

Here he would be more likely adding goals scored.

I dont get that match at all. *shrugs*

Any, Any chance they are looking at Carter? Is that bridge burned?

Dubinsky/Carter deal makes so much more sense considering our needs and salaries.

Maybe Holmgren wants to keep him away from NYR?
