Anyways, nice first period to get one past Harding and take the lead. My boy Ryan Reaves is playing well! Happy to see him get a goal because he's been battling and getting some chances all year. I love his game. Nice pinch from Shattenkirk and dish from Nichol too.

Shattenkirk's offensive game is starting to heat back up but even when he was on a cold streak he was still playing rock solid defensively. He's top 10 in the NHL (and top 5 among d-men) in +/- at +22. As Kelly and Pang were saying, pretty darn impressive for only a 2nd year player. Later tonight/early tomorrow is the 1-year anniversary of the trade and I'm loving Shatty.

I admit, I don't watch a lot of Heatley, but it seems he plays well when playing the Blues. I like his size too. What don't you like about him ?

Too bad they don't play together

Well he's a floater. Slow, lazy, doesn't backcheck...and he's not nearly the goal scorer he used to be. His 50-goal days are long gone. He's more of a 25-30 goal guy nowadays. And his contract is humongous. He would never fit on our team.

Wild don't exactly play a one-way system, either. Back when they were...you know, good... they were playing very structured defense, and Heatley didn't look out of place at all. We in MN have been very pleasantly surprised with his two-way game, actually. He even leads the team in +/-.

Heatley is slow, one of the slowest players in the league. Not only that, he can't skate; his edges are poor as well, and he doesn't even use his slow speed. He coasts. He needs puck carriers and puck retrievers and set up men on his line or else he can't bring much to a team since he can't create his own chances. However, he is blessed with a wicked shot and an even better release and he's been fortunate his whole career in playing with players who excel in the above categories.

He's very similar to Stewart as a player, but with a better shot and release, and a little less "effort" or more on ice "laziness" if you can believe it.

On a side note, Petro is doing everything he needs to be doing this game. The puck is on his stick for less than a second most of his touches. Just such a smart player, one of those that will continue to surprise you every game even when you think you know all about him.

Yeah, we're in no position to take on salary, but I like him WAY more than Stewie. I don't even think I remember hearing Stewie's name mentioned in the 1st period.

Just kinda want to get this game to 2-0 by next intermission and then get it done with no major injuries. It's a shame for Minnesota's fans they had such an injury riddled season. They got to be teased longer than we did last year but similar starts before injury-fueled collapse.

Blackhawks were down 1-0 but then poured it on against the Jackets. They're getting some confidence back. Both teams will be playing a 4th-in-6 game tomorrow. Blues shouldn't have a letdown like the 5 opening minutes of terribleness like the Rangers had and they're not as defensively porous as Columbus so as long as they skate hard and get a good goaltending performance it should be quite a battle. Someone will win 3-2 or 4-2.

Didd Barret freaking Jackman just score a goal? LOLZ that's awesome.

Am loving the quality of Petro's slapper from the point lately too.
