Marc-Andre Bourdon sent to Phantoms

Quote:
Flyers have loaned (D) Marc-Andre Bourdon to their AHL affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms.
Had a good run. I'm sure he'll be back in the future.

He took the chance he got and ran with it. I think he surprised most of us with his steady play. Hopefully we won't see him with the Flyers again this season though (that is, no more injuries please), but he'll have a chance to snag the 6th spot for next year.

Started off better than he ended, that's for sure... for about 2 weeks now he has been guilty of several giveaways per game. When you are paired with a guy like Carle who is not capable of clearing up mistakes, it can end in disaster. Hopefully Kubina can complement Carle a little better.

he played better then i thought he would but yes, he made sum dumb rookie mistakes, hes young, he will be back. He was called upon before he was ready but now he knows what it takes and what he needs to work on

hes gotten some solid experience and we'll see how that effects his game down at the ahl level. i expect hell be brought back up at least as soon as the playoofs when the roster is expanded.

totally disagree with that. IMO, he couldnt have been more ready

he was called upon basically because we had so many injuries and there was no one else on the Phantoms that could fill in and didnt have to go through waivers. This was his third year of pro hockey and he showed absolutely nothing in terms of development in those 3 years.

He probably salvaged his NHL career with the way he played since his call-up

It wasn't that long ago people were calling him and Marshall a bust. While the jury might still be out on Marshall (limited playing time without doing anything really and then being traded), MAB's call-up definitely saved his Flyer career and any possible value he had. If he is able to adjust his playing a bit and isn't paired with Carle he could be much better next season.

Good learning experience for him and Gus. Good to see they are back in the AHL. As much as i hope they grow up we weren't going anywhere with these guys on defense.

I hope they both get a chance to come back and hopefully they'll be able to give the Phantoms what seems to be some much needed help.
