Seriously, our coaching staff should be commanding an oil tanker, their insanely slow adjustments would be perfect.

So in that case we would be the Titanic?

I have to honestly say I don't get where people are coming from saying the boys played a lethargic or poor game today.

I thought they played quite well. Too well in the first IMO, too much cuteness and it bit them. In the 2nd they basically dominated the Wings as close as it is possible to dominate them when they are playing well.

The 3rd we were ****ed with half our team injured. IMO losing Vlasic for the game is pretty much like an automatic goal against, maybe 2. So that did us in, especially when one of our top guys goes out for an extended period of the game as well. IIRC the 3rd goal came when neither Vlasic nor Pavelski playing, two of our top defensive talents.

"It's games like this, and every other game, when I'm reminded how much I hate this team. Time for the Sharks to acquire a top 6. They should trade that bum Pavelski for Correy Perry or maybe Malkin if available. I hate the Sharks, hate hockey, and I'm paid more money than you to talk about it. OOooo lucky day, there's a pizza roll wedged under my third chin!"

Babcock plays Zetterber & Datsyuk on different lines, Clowe/Couture/Wingels would've been outright owned by Datsyuk, so McLellan moved Marleau w/ them.

Thornton and Pavs are more than capable of the heavy lifting against Zetterberg.

The problem this team is having is they can't finish their chances with any sort of consistency and their D zone coverage is brutal.

The first goal defelcted off of White (may have been Boyle) who was...well, I don't know what he was doing.

The 2nd goal, w/ low shots from distrance Niemi has to go into the butterfly to cover the bottom of the net for either the shot or a deflection - which he did, if it hits his pad it's going to bounce out...Burns was standing right there, got just enough of it to land on Miller's stick.

MacDonald gave up many rebounds that the Sharks either overskated or the puck bounced or they whiffed...they have had NO puck luck for a while now.

People love to get confirmation of their blind hatred for Niemi, but the problems right now run much deeper than a bad goal against here or there.

Greiss has also given up 8 goals in his last 3 starts, not exactly stellar either.

Yeah pretty much. I don't understand the good people see in McLellan. His in game adjustments leave so much to be desired, and his players are a bunch of underachievers. Just look at Marleau and Thornton for example. For the most part they've been awful this year.

Great game!

I know we disagree about the Bertuzzi penalty, but hey...it's a hockey forum! All of the other Red Wing penalties were deserved.

I hope Vlasic is OK. Patrick Eaves took a puck to the face about three months ago... He's still out (broken jaw). I wish no ill will towards any player. Hope your team stays healthy.

Peace.

Well, I think part of the reason we've been giving up so many goals lately is because we've never had our best lineup of d-men in the lineup for the past bunch of games. Demers gets back when Murray gets injured, then Vlasic gets injured in the 3rd before that goal by Helm. I think if we had our full lineup of D then we wouldn't be giving up as many as we are. Not only that but Nemo needs to step up his game, he's better than this.

Alex Semin: 37 playoff games, 30 points. And he would be almost PPG except for 09-10 when everybody choked.

I know this is rhetorical but I'll bite, since I do actually watch playoff hockey...

I know its a grind, I know its physical and a marathon not a skills contest etc etc...but I am so sick of watching the sharks year after year, unable to even breakout or make it into the offensive zone with any sort of creativity...or just not having that one guy who can beat a hot goalie off the rush

Niemi deflated the team early, Sharks fight back; injuries deflate the team in the 3rd Sharks fight back with a scrap and dirty goal. The team was obviously exhausted, it's hard to say anyone had a bad game minus Niemi. I thought the 4th line looked pretty good tonight, people say Mitchell isn't strong enough to play that role but he is actually a better fit there imo because he is so tenacious.
This was the 2nd best game they've played this road trip considering the circumstances; the team just needs a good rest and they unfortunetly aren't going to get much.
fwiw I thought the commentating was some of the better I've heard NBC do all season; praised both teams and had alot of interesting obscure facts; didn't know that story about Datsyuk getting drafted.
