Stepan
Richards
Gaborik

Nash can also PK.
First of all you left out Boyle who is one of the key 4; Boyle, Prust, Cally, Dubi.

As I said, Torts tried experimenting to see if Dubi was expendable and it was a disaster.

It's the first game he's played against a team that is rumored to be heavily involved in talks for him. And it's a huge media market to boot. It might just be to answer all of the questions he and the team know are coming in the least intrusive way for the rest of the club.

Nash (Start with his most 2010-11 and moving down in years):

32g 66pts
33g 67pts
40g 79pts
38g 69pts
27g 57pts
31g 54pts (Ony played 54 games that year)
41g 57pts

Dubinsky:

24g 54pts (8 fewer goals/12 fewer pts)
20g 44pts (13 fewer goals/23 fewer pts)
13g 41pts (27 fewer goals/38 fewer pts)
14g 40pts (24 fewer goals/29 fewer pts)

This year Dubinksy is on pace for 8 goals and 36pts where as Nash is on pace for 25 goals and 54pts. Both are not having the best of seasons.

I agree with your last comment, but the rest of your post? How can you disagree with something that's a statistical fact? Dubinsky has never scored less than 40 points in a full season. Last season, he scored about 55. Nash scores about 65 points on average (a few lower, one outlier where he scored 70+). It's a 10 to 20 point difference (10 if you compare Dubi's numbers from last year to Nash's average, but ranged out to 20 when you factor in the fact that Dubi's numbers from last year might be just as much of an outlier as Nash's 70+ year).

Dubinsky, Thomas, and a 1st

"Oh yea, I'd do that." Thats nice of you guys.

Im sure Columbus would do it too, if their GM is mailing it in and the franchise is ready to be moved/contracted.

For anyone who is enthusiastic about making a Nash deal, you need to be prepared to part with what it would actually take. Columbus is not under immediate pressure to make a deal for their franchise player. Read Sting's post and understand the timing of this. They're not trading Nash for peanuts now...why would they? And a Dubinsky, Thomas, 1st package is less than peanuts.

Its worthless discourse to me when you say 'Yes' to Nash and then provide a package thats not even in the realm if possibility to get it done.

Another way to look at Nash:

Gaborik was signed @ 27. Nash is 27.

Gaborik makes 7.5 million. Nash makes 7.8 million.

Gaborik signed for 5 years. Nash has 6 years left.

Nash and Parise are the same age.

Columbus should take that and run. That's a lot to give up. That'd be like the Rangers giving up MDZ or McD, Kreider, Miller or Erixin, and a 1st.

Well if that's your source I'd say that rumor has some legs.

It's not my rumor. This is what I saw posted on Facebook:

TRADE RUMOR: The Leafs have made an offer for Rick Nash, the offer is rumored to be:
D Luke Schenn
C Nazem Kadri
G James Reimer
1st round pick
for
RW Rick Nash
If this is true I highly doubt Glen Sather makes an attempt to top it. Source: @TBLhockeymedia

The scary thing is that if CBJ takes that, none of those players could conceivably be as good as Dubinsky.
An offer of Dubi straight up could provide more value...

I really fear that Sather is going to overpay for Nash. Rather just play it safe and pick up LW and D rentals on the cheap.

No it's not.. Kadri and Schenn are busts. Reimer is a decent but unproven goalie.

Realistically the Rangers will be losing Chris Krieder, potentially Derek Stepan, and maybe others. I know that Ranger fans think it's crazy to give the guy who his probably their best prospect, and their unequivocal best young player, but this is Rick Nash. It's worth it. Back in 1994, I thought they were nuts for trading Tony Amonte and Mike Gartner at the deadline, but they wound up with the Stanley Cup. This year, even with the subtraction of Derek Stepan and perhaps another player, Rick Nash puts them over the top as a Cup contender right away.

Do I think Stepan will go? Definitely not, but if he's the one who Scott Howson is stuck on, and rightfully so, this is what could prevent Nash from becoming a Ranger. Howson does not HAVE to trade Rick Nash. He's under contract, and he's nothing more than a hotly rumored player on the move, but that doesn't mean he's moving. If he is dealt, it will be a blockbuster deal, not a few rowboats for the battleship. It will cost the Rangers Derek Stepan, Chris Krieder, and more. The Rangers are serious players in a potential trade for Rick Nash, but it will cost. Personally, I think he's worth it.

Rick Nash: "It's going to take care of itself. I am a Blue Jacket right now...(about tonight vs. #NYR) it's just another game"

quite a few "no comments" from Rick Nash as he meets with NYC media outside @BlueJacketsnhl locker room today at The Garden
