Would you consider moving Cole if the price is right?

At 33 years old Cole is having a career year for our floundering team. Seeing the return some below average players are garnering would you make him available for trade? I think most of us are in agreement the Canadiens are not in a position to be cup contenders in the next 1 or 2 years. In which time Cole's best years will start to fall into the rear view mirror. If the potential for a large return for Cole is there would you move him? (assuming he'd waive his NTC of course)

I'd consider moving just about anyone for a large return.

Hell yeah. This is the time you trade a hot player. When he is hot.

If he were doing this well and were 25 years old, no way. But at his age, we should be able to get a very good return for him.

But........we have Gauthier as GM.......

As much as I love Cole if someone offered some over payment for him, I think we need to consider it. A couple of 1sts and I would be all over it.

I don't think there's a point in trading everybody, but I'd certainly be interested in knowing what a team would be offering up for him.

Pretty classless to sign a respected veteran UFA to a 4 year deal then trade him during the 1st year of his contract. I say no. He has done a great job with Max and I think he's a great mentor for a lot of the younger guys.

Some of you would trade your parents if yo could. Sheesh.

It would take a lot for me to move Cole, Gorges or Plekanec.. we need to have some leaders on the team for the young guys and all 3 of these guys gives it 100% every shift and lead by example.

Well if the Penguins call and offer Staal and their 1st for Cole and Gomez then yes it's a deal.

Then we trade our 1st+ for Nash.

Then you save the game and you turn off the Xbox.

Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb.

He's our best forward, and trading players that signed with your team as UFAs is BAD.

Go hide under your bed if you don't want to have a legitimate discussion. Nothing wrong with discussing the idea of moving an aging player who's having a great year.

If there's a gross overpayment than I'd jump all over it

Return has to be damn good. As in: a younger version of himself. He's not untouchable but I like having him around on this team.

Only if I ever considered not being a Hab fan death is probably more of a thought than getting rid of the MVP this season, him Max,Desharnais,Subban,Plekanec or Price.Bye now.

There's no discussion. Most consistent Hab all year up front, has brought out the best in Desharnais and Pacioretty, and committed to Montreal for 4 years. Unless you have something that blows the doors off, no chance.

If I was GM in RL, not xbox or some other electronic derivative

I'd have to consider the following: Is this a 1 year anomaly that requires some tinkering a la flyers or is this a rebuild.

Considering that we have a relatively young core I would go with the former rather than the latter. That being said: NO!!

IMPOSSIBLE ! No team would trade a similar, younger player for an older more expensive one.

And the Habs badly need leadership.

Look at Edmonton. A bunch of youngsters and no leaders.

Cole seems like a great teammate and leader...we need that type of player around our young guys so i definitely want the Habs to keep him.

That said, of course i'd move him if someone puts in a HUGE offer...would be foolish not to.
