a lot of scraps huh...why is Jack Johnson so valuable? explain that to me? he is a career minus player!! how is he worth more than your so called scraps
Because Johnson is worth a top 6 forward. Not a combination of bottom 6 forwards/prospects....a current top 6 forward. In other words, we'd package him with another talent (Bernier/1st round pick/higher-level prospect) to get a top line forward.
Terrible trading partners. The Pens have spent a lot of time trying to get wingers for their centers, and we have been doing the exact same thing. If we trade someone like Johnson, we wouldn't be looking for defense in return, our depth chart is beyond ridiculous when it comes to defense, we would be looking for someone just like Neal. Which is impossible. We are looking for the deal that the Pens made with Dallas. We've obviously had different successes, but we are very similar teams. We have defense, goaltender, and centers. The problem is capable wingers, and that is all we desire.
Pretty much this. The player the Kings need is a big, north/south winger with a cannon to ride shotgun with Kopitar. Pittsburgh can't spare the only one they have.
Johnson is sort of a teetering between young D with a high ceiling and overpaid underachieving blueliner. Pittsburgh has both types of guys spilling out the ears.
So, basically, this proposal is LA offering Pittsburgh something Pittsburgh doesn't need in the hopes of getting back something LA wouldn't need.
