I don't think we will see the isles acquiring players with extremely long contracts.

Isles have been burned on both the Yashin contract and the DiPietro contract.
Even Tavares,a mature ,young player with a great work ethic didn' t get a 10 yr deal.

There's no way a player with a rep for pouting and a 10 yr contract ,is being bought in.
i see it as a 7 year contract. of course, his deal runs through 2021-2022, but in the last 3 years of the deal he makes a combined $7M. my point is, because of his declining contract, isles management might not be as averse to acquiring him as many seem to think.

now, do i think that the isles step up and get him? not likely. but 7 years isn't too bad to snag a scoring threat like carter. remember what the isles offered for christian erhoff for pity's sake? so it's not like snowang have sworn off of their committment to long term deals. at this point, snow and wang would be asking themselves if they can commit 7 years to this player, and not 10. perhaps the answer is not as definite as the slam dunk, "NO" when the matter is being discussed at the highest levels of the islander organization.

snowang must be thinking, like many fans, that the styles of carter and parenteau APPEAR to mesh. true, consistent secondary scoring threats! we can dream can't we?

I don't look at Carter's remaining 10 yr deal as a 7 yr deal.I see it as 10 more yrs.
10 yrs for a player with maturity and character issues.

As I posted earlier, the isles didn't give Tavares, who's character and maturity they rave about,a 10 yr deal.
I don't think there is any chance they take on a pouty, immature Carter.Time will tel

No thanks. There's some serious character issues there and he is signed for too long. I think another 10 years. We have never had luck with those type of contracts. Better options out there!

well, i am certainly an outsider and cannot claim to know if he has attitude problems. i don't care how many internet rumours there are about his maturity and character issues, i don't believe one of them. obviously, snow would have to investigate that part of acquiring carter. if he discovers the player is indeed a man-child, then i agree that this is a non-starter.

Before the Flyers dealt Carter ,Botta wrote about Carter being pouty, asking if that would be the type of player Snow would want in a young lockerroom.

Whether you believe Botta comments is your business.

A good friend of mine works for Comcast in Philly. He was pretty friendly with Carter. Those aren't just "internet rumors".

A Columbus beatwriter gave a radio interview and says Carter's fine as a team's 5th scoring option, but not as the key scorer.

$5m per for a guy who wants to be a passenger on the bus instead of the driver?

From what I've heard from my friends in Philly, I say no thank you.

Between the length of his contract, his attitude and the two H's that surround the Coliseum (Hooters, Hofstra) I see nothing but problems.

No to Carter at any price. Soft moody player with a huge contract.
