Wow (Jagr)

Anybody who still thinks Jagr is giving his full effort and it's just that he doesn't have any line-mates should take a look at tonight's effort.

Completely mailing it in, so far (as of 1:44 left in the 2nd).

I hope he proves me wrong in the 3rd, but right now...

WOW he is playing awful. There were a couple of times when I thought he would do one of his amazing stutter steps and blow by Gleason the rookie D and instead he just sort of made a lame little move and gave up. For as good as he is this is obvious half effort play on his part. He should have to give some of his money back.

The question I keep asking myself is:

When is the last time Jagr beat a defenseman, face-up, one-on-one?

Remember last season when he made Timmander look completely silly? That's really the only time I can remember him just cleanly take a defenseman to school and back home again.

He seems to lose the puck on the 2nd move every time.

I could be wrong, but as I recall he beat an Atlanta defenseman clean to get the the net for the shot that Gordon scored on the rebound. I was particularly impressed by that move because he cleaned out the goalie in the process. very un jagr like. but i havent seen him create much sense

He seems to fumble the puck a lot now when taking on a defenseman head on.

I think Jagrs problems all go back a couple of seasons ago when he got that groin injury and was out a while. He is afraid of being hurt again.
He is not the same player... he doesnt move the puck like he used to. He is a lot more afraid to skate with the puck than he used to.
And when he does try and skate with it it he doesnt use his body to block the opposing players off the puck. He loses it. He is making bad passes. I would be surprised any team would take him on now.
People keep talking about the Rangers... since they have the $$$ to afford him. I would still be surprised if even they take his salary.
Seemed like a good trade to begin with... to bad the Caps wasted his talent and diddnt improve the rest of the team.
