I really couldn't care less if Poile overpays for someone. Our system has plenty of assets to spare. It's time to cash some of them in for a real cup run and to convince Weber and/or Suter to re-sign.

The last couple games Hemsky has started to look like himself. It was weird watching Hemsky all year for the first time in his career with no dangles, but they appear to be back. Showing that he can be the best player on the ice again.

I thought he was by far the best player on the ice in the Toronto vs. Edmonton game. Its unfortunate that he hit 2 goal posts and paajarvi wasn't finishing his set ups that game, otherwise he would have been first star.

I'm not trying to flame Eklund, but there are absolutely no other rumors I can find of this, I don't believe this one.

And this is how a gm thinks when wanting a cup.

Hemsky doesn't have a lot of value... the guy is having a bad season and is injury prone.

Can't see him fitting in on Nashville. He's a playmaker and Nashville doesn't really have any snipers for him to pass to.

I can't see Nashville going for Hemsky. He's injured half the time and wouldn't serve any purpose on their team if you ask me. They'd be better off going for Chris Stewart or Radim Vrbata if you ask me.

Also, how can some people still respect Eklund after his LA Kings farce.

He's 28 years old...maybe you should retire.

Hemsky has come around this month. He's gaining more confidence the more he plays and is starting to look like his old self. I'd be happy if the Oilers signed him for 1 year so he can prove that he's still a dynamic playmaker

Nashville has very balanced scoring. Guys that can put the puck in the net. What they need most is someone who can find seams in coverage. Hemsky is that player.

I really want Nashville to make life difficult for the contenders in the west. A WCF of Nashville-Detroit would be epic.

Probably Jon Blum and a draft pick going the other way.

Well if you think his value is Ellis and a 2nd like the OP, then the Oil will have an opportunity to sign him for 1 more year because I can't see anyone paying that price for Hemsky this year.

The fact he still has Sutton on there should be an indication of how bad it is (although now I'm curious who he thinks the Oilers are going to trade him to after having just signed an extension)

No way. Unless that draft pick is a 7th, and even then I'm not sold on it

Last time I checked, E1 meant "impossible", E2 "not going to happen", E3 "highly unlikely" and E4 "pure speculation". So Hemsky to Nashville is nothing but speculation according to Eklund. Got to appreciate the man's honesty.

He has Parros on there as well. That's just wrong.

Question - How had Blum been doing for Nashville this year?

Hemsky is good at controlling the half boards on the PP, luring in defenders enough to open passing lanes to the point. I can think of a guy on their point who might benefit from that. The same way we used to have a guy benefit from that (Souray) who had 23 goals in 08/09 (half of them on the PP).

I think a 1st + cond pick (2nd in '13 if they make the finals) would be fair.

Considering he hasn't played for us since December not well. Josi and Ellis have leapfrogged him, and he's not playing with the same confidence he had last year.
