There is nothing for the Aves I want for JVR unless there want to give us Duchene
...Duchene is, at the moment, arguably the third most valuable asset on that team, after EJ / Landeskog, in some order. He has some of the same shortcomings that have hindered JVR--skates so fast that he doesn't have time to slow the play down and pick out the best option; a tendency to chest-snipe shots.
Mostly, though, a forward swap for JVR makes little sense, particularly if its a younger forward.
Absolutely, but I can't imagine them trading either for JvR. EJ would be a great pickup but I don't understand why they would want to deal him for JvR. The Avs have plenty of cap room so they could match any offer. I assume he is at least in their plans to be the anchor of that defense (if he isn't already, I didn't even know he was playing in Colorado until yesterday). Or are they just worried they won't be able to sign the rest of their forwards (since it looks like the entire team is either UFA or RFA next season).
You wouldn't want Johnson, or Landeskog? I think a line of Couturier, and Landeskog would be a sick two way line for years.
Never liked Landeskog since before the draft since I followed Couturier for over a year prior. When the Flyers actually got him I was like a kid in a candy store. As far as EJ, I would rather have the team try to sign Suter on July 1st. With the recent moves I am ok with what we have now and do no want to move JVR unless we are getting a more talented forward coming back which is unlikey unless its Nash but that will cost Schenn/Couturier also which Im not for.
Realistically I might consider Downie + DS + 2nd for JVR + Carle.
Yeah, that's about what I was thinking. Something with the basis of Downie/Siemens for JVR. It's been reported that our Brass apparently loved Siemens, and I wouldn't be surprised If Homer wanted to bring Downie back. I know the second we trade JVR he'll take that next step, but I do love me some Steve Downie.
