Jonathan Bernier

Would you guys want to make a push to acquire him? I know he has not done much, but clearly is highly regarded and obviously we have a good trading partnership with LA. what do you think it would take from us or do you not even want to consider it?

What's the point? Would I trade Bob straight up for him? Yes. Would I add anything significant? Not really.
We're stuck with Bryz, having a different backup doesn't really matter.

The Flyers cannot think about another starting goaltender unless they find a way to be rid of Bryzgalov first.

This. Unless the trade is something of no value it would be stupid to go after any goalie while Bryz has 9 years left.

You would have to get rid of Bryz first. Lets say you could get a first for Bryz because some team would be willing to do that. I would offer 2 firsts and bob for Bernier... Would that be an overpayment? Not sure, but not only would you get Bernier you would get what close to 7 mil in cap space and bernier? I would be okay with that.

With some of the things Bryz has been saying to people and the media I do not think it will be too hard for management to convince him to waive his no movement clause. He clearly does not feel comfortable. the hard part will be convincing teams he's worth having even with that contract.

I believe once we get through the first few years of Bryz's deal it would not be difficult to deal him.

Why the hell would the Flyers do that? Bryz is here for 9 years. Any goalie, especially a young, talented goalie, is not going to stick around.

Bernier = J.Quick - experience - mature personality

I really liked his play at the last WC where one could really see his top level talent.
But he has played less games than Bob in the NHL and he is signed for only one more season.

Also he is looking small in net especially in games where his confidence is not quite high.

For the next 9 years we will read everywhere Trade proposals within Bryz or a Goalie too Philadelphia....

We know it from the past. We thought and told so this will have an end.... but it has an even new level for the future... mark my words....

We thought Bryz was gonna be a star here, who's to say Bernier would play well here?

The thing people don't realize is every goalie plays differently in different systems. It's the toughest position to predict, and the reason they're not dealt often.

Pretty much sums it up for me. If we're going to be giving up a lot for a younger goalie I'd rather just be going for Schneider. But none of this will happen as long as we still have Bryz on the team.

wow.......................

I'd love bernier if we didn't have bryz. I was on the bandwagon to get quick when they were testing the waters though.

Homer targeted Schneider in the off-season but Gillis asked for Giroux so he hung up the phone.
