NHL Players Poll

http://www.playerspoll.ca/results/20...s-the-best-ice

Apparently the players still think Edmonton has the best ice, and the Canucks are the most overrated team. While Quebec City is the most favoured to get a team, almost all players want fighting to remain in the game and the instigator rule to be left alone.

Should fighting be completely banished?
Answer > No Almost all players in favour of keeping fighting in the game 98%

TSN and The Hockey News are crying right now at that result.

3 of the top-6 coaches who players want to play for also lead in the category that demand most from their players.

I swear they did this poll once 5-10yrs ago and keep using the same answers to the same questions.

lol at Dave Tippett being the second most popular coach. Somebody tell Kyle Turris he's *****ing about stupid ****. Not that we didn't know that.

Tortorella is the kind of guy you like for 1-2 yrs after which you hate him more than Mike Keenan.

Like Cam Cole said, and he nailed it about Tortorella. "Sincerity is a great thing to have if you can fake it."

Interesting.
Twice he has won the Selke and Lady Byng in the same year. How do you keep the opposition at bay that well and not take penalties?

The fact this guy doesn't have a Hart trophy, but a Sedin does, is just criminal.

That's a simplified argument if I ever heard one... It's the Hart trophy, which goes to "player adjudged most valuable to his team" every year. If you want to make an argument that he should have won it you should put him up against Ovechkin who won it in 2008 and 2009 (when Datsyuk got Byng & Selke).

edit: Oh, and just for the record, I do think that the argument for him taking the Hart over Ovechkin those years could have been made. But he was not close the year Sedin won it.

All these polls show is that the players are as clueless about things as the rest of us.

I despise the Canucks but they are not overrated. Stuff like that just means they give pat answers to these things and don't put much thought into it.

They should ask if staged fighting should be banished. I'd be curious to what the players think about that.

Them wanting fighting in the game is really no surprise.

They probably do know some things, but it's not a foregone conclusion. It's possible not to understand something you're involved with on a regular basis. Confirmation biases, fallacies of wrong cause, subjective views on stats, etc are things most people are capable of.
