I definitely didn't think this would happen. My issue with the Bryz signing was the contract being too long at too high a hit. I believed goaltending wouldn't be an issue at all. I just find it funny that Snider promised this wouldn't happen again, and here we are again.

As many of you know I was a huge Leighton supporter in 2010 and heading in to last season, but he's just not a starting NHL goalie. I wouldn't mind him as the backup if Bob is traded though.

This. The guy gave up the Stanley Cup winning goal via five hole. He can stay in the minors.

Brys would give it up stick side, blocker side, and fivehole while not being screened!

My exact feelings. Why do we even have a thread about bring Leighton back up. Homer said it's not a possibility and even leighton said the same thing Bryz has been bad but I rather stick it out with him then bring that waste back up on our team.

Ugh, Sam Donellon on DNL saying bring up Leighton. Then talks about "...some waiver rules or something...".

It's pretty amazing how many sports "experts" are so inept when it comes to hockey rules and processes. I can't stand listening to half of the people on CSN or WIP talk hockey.

what happens if Bryz got dropped to the minors(i know waivers and someone picks him up) how does that hit our salary cap for upcoming years or does it not

Bryz has a no movement clause, so he can't be waived unless he decides he wants to be waived.

Hypothetically, let's say he agrees to be waived. If someone claims him, they simply get him and take on his contract. So the Flyers are responsible for nothing. If he clears, the Flyers can then bury him in the minors forever (and also see 100% cap savings). This is why Bryz would never agree to be waived.

Since it isnt a 35+ contract, if he's demoted to the minors, his cap hit is off the books.

regardless, he has a NMC, so it probably isnt going to happen

TIL: the difference between NMC and NTC i think.

so a NMC means he cant be traded as well or no?

A NMC is a NTC but also includes the provision that you can't be waived.

Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, doesn't it mean you can't be bought out either? I think it does.

You can still be bought out even with a NMC

you can still be bought out. i'm pretty sure Drury had a NMC and was still bought out.

Also, you can technically still be waived, as long as you agree in doing so

Ah ok, thanks.

However, didn't Drury have to agree to be bought out? Which is the same as having to agree to be waived.

Reid is a lot larger than Leighton. He'd take up more of the net.

Well, Bryzgalov is a decently big guy. I wonder if he started playing like Leighton whether or not he'd have some more success.
