From what I'm seeing out here, it looks like the Caps are collapsing. They may turn out to be sellers. Anyone we think could help us here?
Only name I've remotely heard from there is Semin. Too lazy to think of the possibilities though. Of course, they're also only two points out of a playoff spot/home ice in the first round, thanks to that stupid rule.
Hearing the Stars may make some players available ...
Morrow? Depending on the price, of course I know he's out with a neck and it would be taking a big chance, but he should be returning soon. He's signed through next year.
yeah ... don't follow the Stars enough to know who they may offer up in a trade; but you can bet it's none of those you listed.
There's been some talk of Ribs or Morrow possibly hitting the market. Morrow is too broke and doesn't fit our needs to justify a trade unless we're talking mid to late round pick. Ribs is playing well when healthy, but any move with him is writing off this season for the Stars. Frasier is tearing it up in the AHL, but, he's a kid still and not a piece I see Nieuwendyk shipping off any time soon.
they would give us Ribeiro (signed through next season) for Blum+Budish+1st or Blum+Spaling + 2013 2nd
I would do either of those deals, in a heartbeat...
Blum + Budish + 1st is doable from the Preds perspective, but the draft pick is costly given how this year's draft is supposed to pan out and our not having a 2nd rounder after the Gill trade.

I thought the take on this years draft was that the top half of the first round was awesome but the rest was "meh"...
but anyway, I believe, now more than ever, we are in "win now" mode, and with a lot of our recent draft picks looking like they are going to pan out(Latta, Beck, Puustinen, Watson), I could see Poile trading our first for the right player and just taking our chances with lower round picks..

We'd probably pick mid 20s .... not a great spot, but, with the way players tend to mover around late in the round a chance to pick up a decent player. If we move the 1st in a trade the first pick we see is 60+.

Polie already kinda let it out when talking about Gill's trade. Stated that it could be a bigger deal but Canadiens didn't want to mix it up. Probably aiming for Blum or our 1st.
I too would like to snag Pominville (23g, 36a, 60gms) with 2 more yrs at 5.3m cap hit (5.5m sal). Would be a great add! Has a Limited NMC so not sure he would list us as a no go.
What about Tavares or Moulson from the NYI. Why wouldn't you wanna come play for a playoff team?
With the East being as close and tight as it is, will be difficult to get a good deal done till Sunday or Monday.
